RF Generation has a lot of members, however, over the times, some people have been either lurkers or have just plain stopped visiting frequently. This post is allow those of you that lurk the opportunity to say I'm Alive!. Certainly, there are members we've never heard from, and we'd love to hear from them. Also, there are other members who have disappeared from the site, and we'd love to see them on the site too. So, check in here. We miss you, or we never knew you. Change that, we'd love to hear from you again.

Hello, fairly new member, still in the process of uploading my collection (taking one part at a time).  Love what I've seen of the site so far, really appreciate the database.  I have yet to really get into the other features, but my second son was born on Feb. 10th so that's taken a bit of my attention!  I hope to eventually participate more in the community, but with a 17month and 7-day old, my time is touch-and-go for awhile.

Congrats on your new Son! We have a mantra with our staff that real life always comes before the follies of the internet, so we certainly understand taking things one thing at a time. Regardless, it is a pleasure to have you on the site!

Hey I'm an old member, in fact the 13th person to register on the site, I think I did it the day it went live and broke off from the 'old' site. I come back from time to time to lurk here and there. I still plan on sending more stuff via mail over to Den, more will come randomly at some point man. You never know when, it'll show up. I don't even see Arrrrrrrrrr around anymore. Whatever happened to that crazy sob?

I had never heard of skiboarding. That's pretty interesting.

Yea I really like it. It's a lot more freedom on the slopes than regular skiing with the independent leg feel that snowboarders don't have by being straped to one board. It's just plane old fun, and that was a great reason for me to try it and if you ever get the chance I recommend it.

Well over the past winter, I had some financial difficulties and had to sell a lot of my collection.  I kept all of my favorite systems and games though.  So, basically I've hardly been coming around here or submitting stuff like I used to...  But I still care about RF.  :)

This is the first I've been back here in nearly 7 months or so...still kicking, but barely.  I too had to sell most of my collection, for the 3rd time in my life, to pay for bills and huge medical bills (that's what happens when you get old).  Plus I've been doing archaeology in Alabama and Georgia for the past 6 months.  I come home on the weekends long enough to sleep, bathe, wash my clothes and hit the road again...much suckage.

I really miss this place!  I'll try and get back into the habit.

Glad you stopped back in, sorry to hear things aren't going so well right now.  I hope things turn around for you and you can become a regular again!!

Hi, I'm still about.

My collectin should in theory = ZERO. but I found a calculator, and a megadrive and a few games the other day.

I'm still ont the fringe of the "scene" though, and am going to write some review for vol 3/4 of the ZX Spectrum Gamers Bible.

Also decided to get a Vectrex of all things as soon as funds allow, but I shelled out a few hundred quid on new bike leathers last week.

I got the bug again, after going to a convention, organised by people from  board I post on, and play games with on LIVE.

Nah, he's just a loser who keeps making new accounts as he's been banned several times. I can guarantee it's a lot more work for him to make new ones and waste his vacation away than it is for us just click the mouse button twice and ban him again. ;)

Zogmachine was banned this morning. He doesn't realize how easy and effortless it is to bitch slap him into oblivion, it's kind of fun actually. I've only banned him twice myself, other Admins have had their fun as well.

Hmmm... Mr. Zog is not on the members list, but his profile doesn't say banned. I think that there is a bug where if you are a tiger gizmodo, you will be banned, but it won't say 'banned'. How odd...  :)

I sold my retro collection, and bought a bike, but I've started going to retro meetups, and of course, I have XBLA games. Though I'm disgusted with the hash that they made of Battlezone, with it's one stick control....


actually, I have just got back into retro in a small way, I just got an Acorn elecrtron, an old British 8bit microcomputer, and aim to make use of it.

I was trying to make use of NintenoAge's collection software when I realized that doing that would limit me to documenting my Nintendo games old. Then I though, what about that RFGeneration place? Didn't I make an account there around the same time I stopped using the IGN collection software?

Turns out I registered in 2007, but never made much use of the collection software or my forum account (aside from a little lurking here and there).

I've been here for a little while but really there are only a few threads I have participated in, mainly the small scores thread. 

I got into collecting due to feeling disillusioned with the current generation of consoles and the state of the gaming industry and also wishing to enjoy the many titles I remember and many more that I never had a chance to play.  My collection is very RPG heavy because they're excellent for filling in time gaps between current gen releases that I am interested in.

Sup alle? I began my second year of university studies last week, thought I'd drop by and say hello. Things are awesome. Prolly gonna start doing climate research within the month. I don't have many video games anymore, save my PS2 collection. I can't decide if I want a PS3 or 360, or if I should go ahead and get a next gen console.

I didn't see an "introductions" thread, so thought I'd post here.  I've been listening to the CollectorCast now for a couple weeks, and have caught the last 3 or 4 episodes via iTunes, and thought I'd join in here since I'm a bit of a collector myself, though admittedly not as hardcore as I'm guessing some of you folks are.  Just saying "howdy" and I'll be lurking here from time to time.  I've been on Digit Press for a few years, though I mostly lurk there as well.  I'm not that active anywhere, but I may post from time to time, or watch out for sales/trades :)

I guess I should post in here.  I was a lot more active several years ago, around 2010 or so, and wrote several short pieces highlighting horror games, but I eventually had to focus on other ongoing issues in my life.  Since then I've built a solid career working in television entertainment, primarily with Cartoon Network content.  I've continued to collect, albeit at a slower pace.  But maybe it's time I come back, stretch my game-writing chops again, and get back to what I love discussing.

I'm also still a moderator and contributor on Racketboy.com, but some of that has slowed for me in the last few years too.  Funny how life sneaks up on you like that.

Well, after four years, I'm back from the dead. I had a little crisis so to speak, so I've been away since 2011, and now regretfully most of my collection is in storage bins. I hope to remedy this soon, but for right now I only have a few of my consoles and games on hand. (XBOX, 360, One, SNES, GB, GBA, Saturn, and TG16...  the bare necessities). I'm hoping to become active again here soon, especially since I am currently trying to start up a sort of retro "interactive entertainment" business called Primitive Gaming in the near future, and could use all the help I can get. I play a lot of 360, and I just got an XBOX One, and have a lot of free time on my hands, so if any of you want to do some achievement chasing with me, my XBL GT = xX Dev1anc3 Xx . Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yeah, my inbox was backed up...   mostly people wanting to buy the box for my Super Gameboy...   3 people asked which is weird. I had no idea they were rare. I remember when my local Gamestop (might have been Funcoland then) had a huge bin of Super Gameboys for $2.50 a piece...   anyway. I haven't been on the hunt around the shithole state of N.C. since four years ago, so I really can't say how good the wild is here. I know this place hasn't changed much which is good I guess. Most of these dumb backwoods hicks haven't discovered the enterweb yet, so instead of posting their 32X Spider-Man on eBay and making a fortune, they have it at a flea market in a pile with Virtua Fighter, WrestleMania, and Primal Rage for $5 a piece. Gotta love it. A lot of these people haven't even starting growing thumbs yet, and they are very envious.

So I've been trying to get back into collecting for the past few months with a lot of failures from then to now but after going to a couple semi-local trade meets I think it's finally sparked again. Hey guys! Shepy (rhymes with preppy), formerly known as Project Nintendo, here! I've decided to change my username to match what I'm known as on other forum sites (plus let's be honest that other username was pretty lame). I've been semi-active on rfgeneration for quite some time now but haven't ever formally introduced myself so....here it goes.

I love lists so here's 10 fun facts about me!

1. I live in the Madison, Wisconsin area. It is my personal goal to suck the area clean of retro games before shaggy attempts to pollute the area with his bible games.

2. At 18 years old I am definitely one of the younger kids on the channel 3 block. My earliest gaming memories are from playing Nintendo 64 at a friends house.

3. Despite my age, my favorite system to collect for is the NES. I collect for all Nintendo consoles. I also own some Sega and Atari items. I've dabbled with other systems in the past (ps2, xbox, etc.) but never really got into them.

4. I am a Game Design & Development - Computer Science major @ University of Wisconsin - Stout.

5. For the summer I am working on various assembly tasks for a company that designs and manufactures circuit boards. It's tedious and boring but gives me plenty of time to catch up on old episodes of the collectorcast.

9. I'm also a big vinyl collector. I've slowed this down because I honestly just don't have much more space at home (my parents are already nice enough to house my ever growing collection while I'm off at college) and the fact that it's more of a money sink than video games which I'm able to flip.

After about 8 months or so, I am back. I went a little crazy on the collecting over the summer, and neglected to keep it organized. Once the boxes and bags overtook the computer, my daily routine of visiting the site stopped. I kept buying, stacking, and repeating, and before I really understood just how much I was accumulating, I had turned my private shrine into a hoarder's closet. The biggest contributor to this was that my favorite used game store went out of business; I started buying a few things here and there at 30% off, then more at 50%, even more at 70%, and finally I pretty much bought everything left once the store hit 90% off. Now, my gaming room is about 10' X 12' and it was not only full, but anywhere from 4-9' tall depending on what part of the pile you measured. In August, when the store was days from closing, I threw about 200 more games from my final haul onto the pile and closed the door behind me. When I closed the door, it came tumbling after...and I couldn't open the door. The room has no windows, but two doors, and I had already barricaded one of them with a wall of boxes, so I just broke down. On Valentine's day, after 6 months and many embarrassing talks with my little brother and nags from my wife, I started to put some work into dealing with it. I still have a long way to go even after about 75 hours of work, but at least I can use my computer and catch up with you all again. Lol

I absolutely do. It is my own fault, but it still sucks. I am amazed with how many XBone games I am finding that I bought before owning the system though. Hopefully I will keep finding stuff I forgot I had to relive the feelings. Lol

It's me again - I never was really all that active but whatever. I'm there on Page 14 - ended up forgetting my password after about two weeks from that post and just lurked for a couple of months after that.

Thanks to ReddMcKnight for making me remember that this place exists - always said I'd try to do something like say catalog the collection (It's gotten too out-of-hand) and post around a bit but failed, maybe the third time is a charm? Who knows.

I'm still collecting. Just haven't logged anything in a few years except some PS3 games. I moved a few years ago and just drifted away from the site. Still did fantasy football every year though.

I guess I can poke back in real quick too. Been posting here and there on the little pastime forum topics, but nothing nearly as frequently as I once posted and logged.

Unfortunately, I haven't spent much time on the forum itself this past year, but I've been here a while.  I need to make more of an effort to hang out here next year, and chat more!

I actually have been a member of RFGen since 2010, but almost never posted (I think the last was in 2012) despite using the collection tools almost daily in that time. I am usually adverse to posting on forums, but I suppose since I have been visiting this site regularly for so long, I should get involved with the community more. Also, if we are going to get on the subject of youngest members, I am probably up there.

Whatever really since my bday is June 13th and falls on it too sometimes! Including my 13th bday.

Not that I am super superstitious or anything. (when it comes to sports I am but not something like Friday the 13th)

Still here, I moved a few months back and my collection is in a bit of disarray so I haven't really been into gaming lately. Just got a Switch for Xmas and I bought a New 2DS XL yesterday so I'm starting to come back I guess.

Funny, nearly 4 years ago I checked in and said I was going to get back into classic gaming. A lot happens in 4 years, graduated Uni, worked odd jobs, flipped burgers, and finally started a career (hopefully). Oh, and got back into classic gaming of course! :D

Hey everyone! Some pretty crappy personal stuff has kept me away for a while, but I'm doing a lot better now and hoping to spend more time in this great community again. I've genuinely missed y'all.

In an attempt to spend more time playing my retro collection, I started a blog in which I play a game selected at random each week. It's called Retro Roulette (http://retro-roulette.tumblr.com) and that's gone pretty well thus far.

Hey everybody, I was an active member 2010-2012. Around the time I stopped posting I got a new girlfriend, graduated college, got a job, and life got busy. I never stopped collecting but I had most of the important games I wanted that didn’t cost more than I could afford so I slowed down a lot.

I just took some time to update my collection. It’s cool to see how much it has grown since I posted those pictures all those years ago. I now have enough games to create my own 10’x10’ room of doom and I’ll try to post some pictures of it.

While I was here I wanted to thank the community and those who keep up the site. I may not be active like I used to be but I still lurk from time to time reading interesting blog and forum posts. Thanks for everything you do everyone!

I sort of took the summer off of this I guess. But I was busy playing  too, I beat 6 modern  (as in 20 hours at least for each, thats why I emphasize that) and finished the addons in Skyrim which one I hadn't even started yet. So I just updated the  beaten category. Maybe soon I will do some reviews.

I don't know which took longer FFX or Yakuza Kiwami. The story in Yakuza is shorter but there is probably a bit more extra side stories and  which I did too of course. But I did not platinum either, they are super hard to. So they are easily the top 2 most hours spent on. Ni no Kuni comes in at 3rd where I clocked in around 98 hours. I was going for Platinum and was 3 trophies away but thought the drop rate on some of the items was ridiculous and gave up for now. Batman Arkham Origins I guess was 50-60ish doing as much as possible too. Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom took me 27 hours to Platinum. I spent a little less time on Binary Domain than Majin and the story takes less time too. BioShock was probably 30-40 hours or something. Including 2 playthroughs on different difficulties to achieve Platinum. And lastly I probably sank maybe 40 more into Skyrim doing the Addons and other side quests I hadn't finished the first time.

So I have just been busy playing . Well I have done other things too. I have had to worry about my family and nearly lost two of the people closest to me.

My dad had a heart attack April 30th. They sent him home because he was too weak at the time to operate on. Then he started feeling bad again at the end of June and on July 1st they decided he was strong enough to do surgery and so they did. I hate to say it wasn't a surprise my dad had these problems he was obese many years and only lost weight recently. As well he drove a truck for 20 years and ate mostly fast food and at truck stops. But on August 5th my youngest uncles wife had one too and she was what I thought was one of the healthiest people I knew, she even had a stint where she tried out being a vegan but didn't like it. It turns out it was fate she needs to be at least a vegetarian because she has a disorder where she doesn't process the cholesterol found in meat like a normal functioning person would and thats why her arteries got clogged. 50 some odd years of even eating healthy didn't stop the disorder from striking since she didn't know she had it. So she has no choice now. It was actually exactly 2 weeks after her 60th birthday. But she rebounded enough she still went on a plane on vacation just 2 weeks after that. So she wasn't stopped too long.

My dad has been stopped from working. He hasn't worked since the attack and hopes this next doctors visit the 27th will clear him. They won't let you drive a bus if they are not happy with your health which is understandable you have the lives of people in your hands. Its probably even stricter for pilots.

Wow, sorry to hear about the health problems with your dad and aunt. Hopefully your dad gets cleared, and can get back to work, and back to normal.

Yes they have, I wouldn't say its the reason I play games but playing them does help the mind forget the shitty parts of life at least for awhile.

I guess I will give an update on my dad. A few days before Christmas he had a defibrillator device put in him. This device being installed bars him from ever being able to drive a commercial vehicle again, it is the literal law. No appeals by people have been granted when they have tried. So for now he will still be on disability, and it doesn't seem like his company has anything else for him to do. And there is very little in the way of work he can do anymore either, he has been diagnosed with an additional condition relating to stress that means any amount of stress more tha normal everyday life can kill him. So... lets say he signs up to be a..... gas station clerk. Nope, anything from a gas tank fire causing stress to a robbery could kill him, just as an example. So hopefully the feds will realize, and insurance companies, that this isn't some guy being lazy and mooching off them, because he literally can not be over stressed in any way, literally, and its not a social problem, its a heart problem.

Howdy all - was given a cool present yesterday I though I'd post in the small scores thread, what I didn't realize was its been 4 years since I last posted - which seems to have gone by terrifyingly fast.

Had some lucky breaks with work that didn't leave a lot of time for gaming - but my boy (who is now 7) is obsessed with all thing mario & minecraft it's time to start setting up the old consoles.

I have picked up a few carts just for that purpose. I have had great success thus far in terms of games arriving and playing fine, but of course shipping can take very, very long even before this year's events.  It has been worth it for me. :)

Being a collector in 2023 is weird. Things are so different now. I miss the glory days. For me that was when I started collecting in 2007 till somewhere in the mid 2010s.
