The Amiga 600 was introduced in 1992 as the entry-level machine in the Amiga range and replaced the 500 Plus. It was considerably smaller than the 500 Plus (although this was also at the expense of the 500 Plus's numeric keypad) and also offered additional features such as a PCMCIA slot and support for an internal 2.5" IDE hard drive. While it also had a "trapdoor" expansion port similar to the 500 Plus, it also did away with its sidecar expansion port.
However, the A600 faced a cold reception at release due to its higher price over the 500 Plus and removal of certain features. It was eventually discontinued in 1993 and superseded by the Amiga 1200.
