Overview
The Sega Mark III was rereleased in Japan under the Sega Master System name in 1987. Although the Japanese Master System looks almost identical to its international counterpart, it does have some significant differences. The cartridge port is the same as the Mark III, allowing for the play of Mark III and SG-1000/SC-3000 games. American and European games are completely incompatible without an adapter as a result. The Japanese Master System also has a built-in 3-D glasses adapter, rapid fire, and a Yamaha YM2413 FM sound chip. These were all separate peripherals for the Mark III.
