Overview
The 20th Anniversary Macintosh (or "TAM" for short) was introduced in January 1997 to celebrate Apple's 20th anniversary, and began shipping on March 20 that same year. It is one of the most unique Macintosh models ever produced, featuring a slim vertical form factor, Bose speakers and a built-in TV and FM radio tuner. Packed in with the TAM were a special keyboard with a built-in trackpad and Italian leather palmrest, and a Bose subwoofer that also acted as the computer's power supply. Partly due to its exorbitant price of $7,499, the TAM sold in small numbers and was discontinued on March 14, 1998.
Trivia
Only 12,000 TAMs were ever made, although Apple kept 399 of them to use as spare parts for other TAMs.
The TAM was Apple's first desktop computer with an LCD screen.
