- Released October 2013 through the Ghostlight website, the European release of Devil Survivor 2 was (in a sense) crowd funded.
- On 14th March 2013, Ghostlight announced on its blog that the game was finished and had been approved by Nintendo, but could not be released due to insufficient retailer support for DS titles. The entry also suggested the possibility of making the game available (as a collector's edition) through their online storefront, funded by fan pre-orders.
- The "Gold Edition" (unofficial title) was made available for preorder either as a stand-alone title or bundled with "Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked", and would be released if it could secure 1,800 pre-orders between 1st August and 30th August. The number of pre-orders was based on what it would take to break even.
- Anyone who pre-ordered during this window could have their name/handle printed in the manual.
- When Devil Survivor 2 was finally released the list of names filled 10 pages!
- Despite being promoted as a collector's edition, there is no standard edition.
