Review:
GP-1 Rapid Stream
When I found out Atlus of America had released a racing game I figured it would either be incredably great or a failure. Sadly it was marginaly better then a failure. After searching hard for the domestic release, I decided to settle for the SFC version.
Graphics-
The eye candy most gamers look for these days. This sadly is one of the biggest things it suffers in. The bikes while well looking at first. suffer from poor low viewing angles. When they switch lanes it often looks as if your viewing them from a side angle rather then from the back. The backgrounds while not the best, were thankfully decent enough to be easy to forget.
Gameplay-
For the most part it's very simple. You have your controls, you have your acceleration, and you have your breaks. It never feels as if your going 200kpm but then how many snes/sfc racing games ever felt all that great?
Sound/Music-
Nothing memorable yet nothing that stands out as being overly bad. The bikes engines sounded close enough to be acceptable, the music if any was completely forgetable, but reguardless, the sound effects were decent.
Replay Value-
With limited number of tracks, limited number of bikes, there's little point in playing it over and over again.

Buy/Rent/Pass:Rent, no. Buy, no. Pass, yes. Only hard core racing fans or Atlus fanatics need apply. The games shortfalls are too many and too obvious to pretend this is anything more then a below average racing game. Better games came before it on older systems as well as on the very same system it was released for. It's not bad for a time killer but realy, if you have spare time to play games, go play a good one. Heck, go play a "great" one!
