During development, Rare initially considered offering support for the Expansion Pak. The developers then decided that they wanted all players to have the same experience and dropped support for the Expansion Pak. However, the initial release of Jet Force Gemini displayed Expansion Pak support on the front of the box.

This box variant had a sticker applied over the blurb on the box that erroneously stated that the game supported the Expansion Pak. The sticker corrects this mistake by stating that the game is only compatible with the Rumble Pak.
