Overview
The FZ-EM256 is add-on hardware for the 3DO that plugs into the expansion I/O port on the 3DO console. It is designed to expand the 3DO's internal Save Game memory from the original on-board 32kb of storage to 256KB.
The FZ-EM256 was released late in the 3DO's life cycle and was only sold in Japan, though the hardware itself is region free and will work in any 3DO hardware with an I/O expansion port.
It does require a CD to use, though given that the unit is uncommon, it is hard to define whether the CD is required on all 3DO's or if units with built in memory managers such as the FZ-10 require it as well.
