Trivia

The Sony 3D display enables two players to play at the same time without resorting to splitscreen multiplayer by utilizing a technology Sony calls "Simulview". In games that have been programmed to use this feature, such as Gran Turismo 5 and Motorstorm Apocalypse, both players wear a pair of 3D Glasses in order to see their own fullsize screen image - no splitscreen.

In this mode, the 3D capability of the display is being used to project two different images at the same time, as opposed to two slightly different images ("normal" 3D images use the latter approach to appear like they have depth). As a result, the Simulview image is projected only in 2D.
