Hey everyone!

Recently, life has sucked. Growing up sucks and I don't know how some of you
have dealt with it. I have been sooooo busy since the last time I
posted...but i assure you, unlike the last time, I'm back to stay (hopefully).

Since last post I:
Graduated
Moved
Got a "real" job
A bunch of personal life stuff

....all of which have taken up a great deal of my time. But now that i am
finally back to where i need to be, i can get back to what matters most:
video games. To kick things off, im gonna bring back the Summer Game Challenge!

Assuming you dont already know, the SGC is an event created by someone on
RFGen (who exactly is something I forget) and was a way for the community
to get together and collectively clean out our backlogs. To participate,
all one needs to do is set a list of games to beat, and then do so over the
summer....and usually blog about it (but i assume you could play and not
tell anyone....but that ruins the "collective" part.)

With that in mind, ive set the goal to finish the following before
September 1st:

Zelda: Wind Waker (playing the HD remake)
MGS: Snake Eater
Zone of the Enders 2 (Also in HD)
Mega Man 6
Metroid Prime
The Legend of Dragoon

3-4 of the games were on my previous lists, but for whatever reason, diddnt
get done. (In the past, I had much more free time over the summer, so I set
more ambitious goals.)

If i wanna get this done, Ill have to work quickly, seeing as my new job
takes up 11 hours a day between work and commute...thinking everything but
Dragoon needs to be done before august to stand a chance.

So far, progress has been slow, with the release of Mario Kart 8 and all. Just got through Tomahawk Man's stage before bed, and have 7 more robot masters to go.

Till Next Time!

It's been a bit, but lets check out what got beaten since last time!

Rage

Rage was that game that had no real driving plot, but kept you playing anyway. Like really, no driving plot whatsoever...and the ending is just as bad. The game rocked though!

Most annoyingly out of any of the other quirky features was the massive voice actor cast...so much so that i couldn't talk to anyone without knowing where I had heard their voice before. Also, Steve Blum, if you are reading this....stop stalking my games....and change your damn voice once and a freaking while.

The visuals were breathtaking, and the gameplay was spot on....so much so that I wanna make a foam wingstick model.

My only other gripe is the car customization...none of it really felt different, although for a tacked on mini game, i guess i cant expect much.

Borderlands

Me and the girlfriend were busy here...beating every quest in the main game...then the DLC went on sale so we bought em all and have most of that done. This was just pure fun....although i had bought the DLC with the bank a lot sooner... so many good guns lost to the 0's and 1's of history >.Pokemon Snap

A really fun game, when my N64 would cooperate. Hated the inverted controls, and was a bit too short.

But does anyone else see the Wii U as a perfect opportunity to make Snap 2???

Turtles in Time

This was one hell of an afternoon....playing all morning and not quite making it, then convincing the gf to put borderlands down for a day and to come help....blamo, 45 min later it was done. Almost like contra in the way that it's significantly easier with a second competent person at the helm (speaking of which, Super C is just waiting this same occurrence). Not much to complain about here either, except that it's more money than turtles arcade, but less fun.

Star Wars: Rebel Assault II

Lets preface by saying I LOVE SW:RA for Sega CD. That said, RA2 was a bit of a letdown. The controls were sluggish, even compared to the original, and although first and third person modes were there...it still diddnt capture that magic of the first. Part of the problem may be the storyline, which just couldnt get me into it...

so where does that leave me?

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
Borderlands
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Rage
Saints Row Diamond 2-Pack
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time
Pokmon Snap
Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Faxanadu
Super C
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project
Donkey Kong Country
Star Fox
Super Mario World
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Pikmin
Punch-Out!!
Contra: Hard Corps
Sonic & Knuckles
Legend of Dragoon, The
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
Bully
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies

Lots of games done, still more to go!....I think a few games may get replaced due to lack of interest, or , since my family discovered the wii has netflix, console availability.

Till next time

Since writing 30 diffrent blogs seemed excessive, I decided to reduce my SGC updates to 1x a week....

and a busy week it was! Shortly after posting my rant about S&K (read it here: http://www.rfgeneration.c...2-Sonic-Knuckles-2169.php )
I finished Call of duty: MW3.

It was much longer than I had expected, although I wasn't expecting much. The action was great, and it was a worthwile wrap up to the storyline

Yesterday graced my tv with the completion of Starfox for the SNES....and I'm not too sure why I waited this long to play it.
The game was fun, exciting, and handled precicely. Can't complaign at all...except for the wacky end boss. Why in the hell is Andross a cube?

Oh well, small complaignts asside, I had a blast with both of these games.

Now to update the list

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
Borderlands [Game of the Year]
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Rage [Anarchy Edition]
Saints Row Diamond 2-Pack
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time
Pokemon Snap
Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Faxanadu
Super C
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project
Donkey Kong Country
Star Fox
Super Mario World
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time
Pikmin
Punch-Out!!
Contra: Hard Corps
Sonic & Knuckles
Legend of Dragoon, The
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
Bully
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies

four games down! woo! Working on Rage right now, and the gf to finish borderlands (just grabbed all the DLC too!..yay xbox deal of the week!)
About 12-13 game days into pikmin, and have half the parts. Don't even remember where I left off at in D&D.

Stuck on the last boss in punchout...curse you Mr.Sandman!!! Pokemon snap is on the volcano stage.

Till next time,

2 games down already! This time it's Sonic and Knuckles for genesis (which for those of you keeping track means i can put the Sega away for the rest of the summer xD)

Sonic and knuckles felt odd, and i couldn't put my finger on it until about half way through the game....when i saw a scene that looked sorta like this:

look familiar? ...how about when put near this:

it was at this point that i realized i was no longer playing a sonic game....just a cheap mario ripoff. The speed that defined the games was minimal, and twitchy platforming sections dominated the game. I was really hoping that after my disappointing experience with sonic 3 (read it here:http://www.rfgeneration.c...-NeoMagicwarrior-1798.php) that the game would return to its roots....*sigh*

That isn't to say the game was all bad. The controls were tighter than they had ever been, and some of the music was great (even though some of it was horrible).

Eventually, i'll have to go back through with knuckles and see if it is any more enjoyable that way, but for now i'll call it done!

so where am I at?

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
Borderlands
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Rage
Saints Row Diamond 2-Pack
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time
Pokemon Snap
Legend of Zelda, The: The Wind Waker
Metroid Prime
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Faxanadu

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III: The Manhattan Project

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time

Punch-Out!!
Contra: Hard Corps
Sonic & Knuckles
Legend of Dragoon, The
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
Bully
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies

I may grab ace combat this afternoon to start it up...eventually i'll finish COD tonight. The GF and I are 3/4 through borderlands...and having a blast doing so (think im gonna make her help on all the co-op games!)

Till next time!

Well, the first of the pile has fallen! Contra Hard Corps is finally beaten.

CHC requires a bit of an explanation as to why it is so important. I've had this game as long as I've had my genesis (94-95ish). And as a five year old, it is tough to decide which game is harder: the lion king or Contra Hard Corps. Now that I'm much older, I have come to see the answer: lion king.

Contra Hard Corps was more of a memory game than i had thought. After not playing this gem for years,  it all just fell into place...each bullet expertly dodged with precision and grace and extra lives....so many extra lives and continues.

i really wish i could find some sort of story on it though....not sure how a wolf with a robotic arm and a robot fit into contra storywise....then again, why am i asking about a story in contra???

I really enjoyed playing through it....and cant wait till i get the time to play through again to get a different ending..

so where does that leave me? oh wait 29 more >.>

well, its that time again! time to clear out the old backlog! and fortunately, unlike last year, all i want to buy between now and school happens to be lollypop chainsaw (although we all know im gonna buy a metric crap-ton of classic stuff between now and then). so now, a quick look at this year's debacle!

Dungeons & Dragons: Heroes
Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne
Borderlands
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow
Rage
Saints Row Diamond 2-Pack
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter
Legend of Zelda, The: Ocarina of Time

Punch-Out!!
Contra: Hard Corps
Sonic & Knuckles
Legend of Dragoon, The
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II
Bully
Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
Ace Combat 04 Shattered Skies

lots of mess this year...2 zelda games, an rpg or two...and multi disk games everywhere!

to be fair, a lot of these are started already, so its more like 20-25 full games...although that doesnt make it look too much better!

as for game 1, i think im finally gonna finish story mode for COD:MW3....but what to play next?!!

till next time
