Collection Description: I don't consider myself a serious collector. I do it for fun and buy things that interest me.
I came to gaming late. My first game system was a Gameboy when I was in high school. The first one I ever bought was a used N64 from a friend in college. I was a pretty hard core PC gamer until about 8 years ago when I bought at PS2. As such, I have a lot of older PC games.
I enjoyed the PS2 immensely (Persona 4 is probably my favorite game for the system) and then began to branch out and explore other systems. The PS2 was followed by a PS3, then an Atari 2600 and the rest grew from there, much of it from thrift stores and estate sales.
CIB doesn't matter to me for most cartridge based systems. For carts, I can do without the boxes, though manuals are nice to have. For CD based systems I am a CIB man.
I'm really not interested in collecting items outside of the USA. I suppose individual non-US titles might be an interest, but I'm not really a completionist either. I tend to gravitate towards RPG and adventure games as well as other games that I think I might enjoy playing. I also love those oddball quirky titles that try to do something different.
I have no specific goal in mind so far as collecting, though I would like to expand my Atari 5200, Colecovision, NES and Dreamcast collections. Over the years, my focus has narrowed. I'm a bit more discerning than I once was... hence the small number of sports games in my collection.
