- Brian Howard Clough, OBE (1935 – 2004) was an English professional footballer and manager who played for Middlesbrough and Sunderland between 1955 to 1964 as well as two caps for England in 1959. After his playing career was cut short by injury, Clough went into management with various clubs, starting his career in 1965 with Hartlepool Town in 1965 and retiring in 1993 with Nottingham Forest. As a manager Clough won various trophies including the 1st Division title twice and the European Cup twice.
