- Geoffrey Lewis Capes was a British shot putter who represented Great Britain in three Olympics (1972, 1976 and 1980) but failed to win a medal. Capes competed in various other competitions winning a Bronze medal in the European Athletics Championships (1974) and two Golds in the Commonwealth Games (1974 and 1978). After his athletic career, Capes competed as a Strongman winning the British, European and World Strongest Man titles as well as being a multiple World Champion in the Highland Games.
