Review:
Wow, all 8 classic Mega Man games in one. What a deal compared to tracking down all the original NES titles. MMAC is a solid and faithful port of the originals with no graphical artifacts since emulation is not used. All of the original soundtracks are used, and the PS2 feature of using a remixed soundtrack is not available due to the GameCube's decreased storage capacity. This version also lacks the framerate issues seen in the PS2 version. The only issues are: a slight blur to the edges, which is not noticeable during play; the end of Mega Man 7 is cut, showing only the credits; and one of Bass's lines is censored ("damn"=>"darn").
The prize gems of this compilation are the unlockables. While somewhat lacking in comparison to the PS2 version of the game, this version has the most prized unlockable... an interview with Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune. Other unlockables are three picture sets, bonus songs, and two 2-player arcade games that didn't see a U.S. release.
An important feature not available in the originals is the option to save, which means less time wasted replaying levels to get to Dr. Wily. The only complaint of this compilation is the GameCube controller's small D-pad makes control difficult at times.
