Tan's review:

Normally I wouldn't be one to heap praise on a sports title, even more rare because it's a baseball game but this game is good. Oddly enough, the Color Computer family of machines is one of the few mainstream systems I didn't have contact with during the 80's. If I had, this game would've blown me away in 1983!

Given that the Tandy joysticks were one button affairs, they made excellent use of that fact to make an ingenious game that controls well. The game has a learning curve of about 2 minutes, as everything just seems to make sense on-screen. When your at bat, you can switch left or right and the single button swings the bat. If you hit the ball you steer your player to first base and so on. When your pitching, the single button throws and you can aim your pitch with the joystick. When a ball is hit you can choose your player by cycling from the closest like most modern games do to intercept it. Then you throw it where you want by aiming and using that magical single button. Simple no? The difference between this game and the countless others of it's day is that although your still restricted by a single buttoned stick, it feels like your playing a deeper game because you just put your faith into the programmers in that they've made the game responsive to your whims and they deliver.

Sound is pretty basic. Serviceable and quaint, it gets the job done. The use of static noise for the crowd in the stands is a nice touch though.

Graphics, are crisp and colourful. You have the score on-screen, the inning, as well as stats like strikes, balls and outs in a manner similar to a scoreboard at the top of the screen. It even tells you at the plate how each pitch was called by the "Umpire". The team colors contrast well and the animation when they are moving, is similar to that seen in many Intellivision games but look more refined and sharper.

The other thing that stands out with this game is the attention to detail. Little things like a shortened version of the national anthem (U.S.), the teams bursting out of the dugouts and spreading through the field, things like that make this game seem a bit ahead of it's time and more than just a bat and ball game with no substance. This is a title more worthy of the MLB license than many of the 80's I've seen and played. It's a really fun, simple, addictive game that makes a strong case for someone to own a Color Computer if they can find one.
