I hit F5 when I had some commentary typed up. Since its my #DrunkSnowDay I have no idea what I had typed up so far.

hmm i have a friend coming to spend the whole weekend here but really want to listen to this. maybe i'll see if he wants to give it a listen too (or force him to if he doesn't want to :D).  also i don't remember the rules about what you have to do to get your scores talked about, was it to donate to the collectorcast itself or to RFG or either? i was one of those late donors and might be getting some scores tomorrow (hopefully) so it'd be cool to get them mentioned in ep 13 :) .

It was cool that you guys mentioned the Sharp NES TV, that thing needs more love. I definitely love mine, I got real lucky too it's got all the feet and doors so it looks amazing also for shame for even joking about breaking feet off. :nono: By-far it's one of the best ways to play NES games IMO although I try to stay off of it as much as possible because the pins are a pain to reach to fix or replace but from time to time I partake in the greatness.

That should be a future topic collecting oddities that most haven't heard of or seen in person.

Good to hear from Nupoile.  I learned more about the Odyssey 2 than i ever knew before.

It is funny though, every CIB Odyssey game i run across is in amazing condition too.

Interestingly, most of my O^2 boxes are in bad shape...

Fleach sent a copy of this to each of the podcast members PRIOR to seeing the art Duke had made up for the show this time around. Apparently he has listened to far to much collectorcast as he is starting to think like us ;)

Before we record each show we always have to do a microphone Test for Echo.

what do you guys usually use to do the actual recording over, skype?

Considering your Circumstances you guys do great. I know there's only a Ghost of a Chance, but I'd love you guys in The Camera Eye.

Yes, we use Skype but we each record our own audio and then Duke Splices them together later.  It's the only way to get solid audio all the way around and not have to rely on the integrity of our network connections for audio recording.  Also, it eliminates latency.

wow that makes it all the more impressive, the show always sounds like one seamless conversation, i assumed you were all talking over something at the same time.

I didn't realize so much work went into putting these podcasts together. Wouldn't something like Garage Band work to record the conversations (I think at one point Duke said he's a Mac guy)?

You guys are doing an awesome job working with what you have. Keep it up!

It's much more time consuming doing it the way we do, but the audio quality is head and shoulders above shows that do it all over Skype.

The conversation itself happens over Skype in real time, but the actual audio that goes into the show is locally recorded on each person's machine. Then we put them all back together again and edit. Each person's audio is as good as it gets that way.

oh that makes a lot more sense, for some reason i thought bil meant you all record something, then send it to each other for a response to be recorded, and keep passing recordings around until it's finished.

So what all do you guys use for some of the recording equipment? Do each of you own a Shure SM57/58 or something? Hardcore enough for Shure SM7bs?

Duke does a tremendous job (and amount of work) with the audio for each episode.

I use a Blue Yeti.

Multiple hours of talk about video game acquisitions followed by earnest (mostly) talk about computer gaming?  A podcast after my own heart, you guys host.

Yeah Duke doesn't get enough credit for all the time he puts into the podcast.  In fact, i want to personally thank Duke with a present...pm coming....

If you don't recognize the name CoinCollector, go to the Steam section of the DB. His name will become very familiar to you.
So far, I believe this episode has the record for saying my name the most. I don't know why, but it always makes me smile.
And "colored baseball" really did make me laugh out loud.

On the old Pokemons you could trade your pokemon from game to game to game if you wanted.
Trading from Red/Yellow/Blue to Gold/Silver/Crystal would cause some pokemon to actually end up holding items which was not something the older games had as a feature.

Not sure what has gone on since the series moved to the DS.

OK, this is interesting. Was there an import feature you would use with multiple Game Boys and the link cable?

you went into a pokemon center and they had a room which was essentially the multiplayer menu, where you could either trade pokemon via link cable, or battle them against your friend's. i think the item thing was just in gold/silver and maybe later games where while doing a normal pokemon trade sometimes a pokemon would be holding an item when you recieved it.

So would the transferred Pokemon keep their level, or would you just unlock it and have to level it again in the new game?

it kept it's level, it was a trade of the exact pokemon you had, there weren't any sort of "unlocking" of pokemon :P. every pokemon could be uniquely named too, and even that was transferred over.

At the height of its popularity, I saw first-hand the damage that Pokemon did to people of all ages.

The selfishness, the anger over not getting a holofoil card in a pack, the downright weirdness of the sizable basement-dwelling-fanboy segment... it was just horrible.

I still have occasional nightmares of those dreadful days.

It's a big reason why I got into gaming; it's helped to deaden the emotional pain of those dark times.

I'm doing fantastic.  I went golfing today, my short game needs a ton of work, but still had a great time.  The only card i had to deal with was the score card and you wanna talk about depressing....

If ya wanna work on your short game, why not try miniature golf?

Mortal Kombat 4 was the last to be numbered.
Deadly Alliance was MK 5. The blade artwork on the front made a roman numeral-esque 5.
From here on numbering in any fashion stopped. It wouldn't have made sense anyways. UMK3, Trilogy, Tournament, Mythos, Special Forces and Shaolin Monks all broke the number system anyways,
