Mostly cardio every other day, I do very, very light weight training right now, but to stay healthy I run a lot, which is a total blast in hot and humid weather.

I said other. Me and my friends are high active, play odd versions of sports (our tennis is dodgeball with and net, rackets, and 30+ tennis balls winging about at high speeds. No one has died yet), and generally we run around alot, although we're slowing down in our old age.

i hope no one has died yet with a tennis ball, if you want a real sport go town to the beach and shoot bottle rockets at each other, running around and setting off bottle rockets the whole time.

I currently play hockey twice a week. I used to work out heavy at least 3 times a week. Of course it's been years, and I know I should do something about this, but I've gotten a bit lazy over the years. :embarassed:

When I was in my 20's, I played in 4 hockey leagues (also coached a youth team), skated 2 miles a night on my non game nights and worked out with heavy weights. Oh, and at least 500 sit-ups a night.....

Of course there is no way I have time for all of that now, but I need to pick up at least something else to do.....

I get up every morning at 5:30 (though I sometimes skip a Saturday or Sunday) walk the dog then ride my bike. I've also been walking on my lunchbreak. on my Friday lunchbreak I've been rollerblading. I play floor hockey on Tuedays and Softball on Fridays. it's not a strenous exercise regime by any means but it seems to be helping. I have dropped a pound or two.

Good topic/poll. I am in the US Army, so it's my job to stay in shape. I focus more so on cardio and run M, W & F. I work on upper body on T, TH & S. Sunday is my lazy day. lol.

I don't really need it - I eat masses of food every day and still weigh only 60 kg for 1.80m, but I figure I should because I'm totally out of shape. I used to ride my bicycle every day to university, but with exams I'm sitting home all day.

damn, me too

I eat all I can and I still weigh in at 140 pounds (64 kg or 10 stones, if you prefer) at 6'1" (1.85m)

as an afterthought, stones are lame

Yeah, I do somewhat. Not as much as I should, but I do Shotokan Karate 3 days a week, and I train on my own throughout the week when I have some time.

Oh my knid of thread I havent worked out in about a year and a half. The other day the guys were in the weight room lifting and I crawled under the bar and was able to rep 300 for several reps. Which got me inspired to start back.

We should start a exercise journal like the gaming diary. Problem is I did work out this past week and I'm not sure if I going to do anything today either. Work is and school are killing me.

I thought a stone was ~16lbs...
But your right they are lame.

I picked other.

I am constantly doing heavy and/or repetetive lifting at work.
I've lost 2 inches off my waist and 20(+/-) lbs overall.
Working in the cooler is without a doubt the only perk of my job.

Move/stock/rearrange a couple hundred pounds of gatorade/powerade/water/soda/energy drinks/beer/wine a day.

Never mind frozen foods and the shit we put on the grill.

Woah... we have a sport section. When did that happen?

I only do weightlifting and only when I can be bothered. I'm up to 35lb X 10 bicep curls with dumbells. I'd try a bit more weight just to see how much I can do but the bars can only hold 16KG with the weight sizes I've got. I don't even know the names of most of what I do. I just follow a sheet that came with the dumbells, doing different exercises on alternate days.

In the last five or six weeks I've lost 10lbs and I can actually pull my jeans away from my waist and put a cheesy grin on. It's since I stopped drinking beer and we haven't had cakes in the house. :P

When I got back into weight lifting six weeks ago I could only do three press ups. :( Now I'm up to a best of 17. :D Not much but I've got a fair bit of weight to push.

Now that it's a tad chilly around here for bike riding I've started lifting weights. I don't have a lot of time in the morning to do it but I try to do 10 sets of 10 each day. I alternate the lifts, bench press one day, then curls then back to bench press and so on. I'm still walking every morning and have been doing it with 10 lb ankle weights the past couple weeks.

I think I've lost another pound or two.

Title: Re: Do you exercise/workout?

My weight kind of levelled off once I had lost about 15lbs, which, coincidentally, is when dad came back. I've lost 4 inches off my waist.

I dropped my bicep curls from 16kg x 10 to 10kg x 30 and just this week I changed up to 14kg x 20. I should get some extra weights for bench presses. 20kg isn't enough because I'm doing 50 reps.

I used to do a decent amount of both, then I got an abdominal hernia and soon after I recovered from that I dislocated one of my shoulders and that lasted a LOT longer than it should have (yet hospital check-ups said it was all ok)...regardless, I haven't started working out again as probably 1-2 years went by in the meantime, and I just got totally out of it.  I'm still in good shape, just lost some muscle tone and about 5kg since then, so it's not THAT bad, but I would still like to start working out again, especially before next summer.  The sad thing is that I live with my twin brother and he's got a large fitness setup in his domain downstairs, yet I've only used it maybe once or twice...

I dont have time to do weightlifting anymore.(although I would love to) I do have a ton of stretches, along with usually 100 pushups, and 200 situps everyday when I get up and go to bed. I also ride a 20" bike for 30 min/1hour everyday. One day I ride sitting down, next day standing up never stopping the peddling. Thats the training I do to keep me in shape for racing. I would love to run but my knees wont allow it.  :(

School and the winter months have destroyed my desire / will to work out. As soon as it warms up though and the days are a bit longer, I'll be back out, but right now... no thank so.

I can't wait for June when I have a nice cushy 8-5 (7:30-4:30) job and I don't have that horrible thing known as homework. I love to run. I just wish I had time right now. Damn school and coding the site.

I haven't really improved since then. :( My weight has been very steady, which is an improvement on a year ago. It used to go up or down by 7lbs each week.

I can now do 25 press ups. I was so happy when I finally managed 20 press ups, then I couldn't do any more until I suddenly did 22, then again the next day, then 24, then 25. It's like 20 and 25 are psychological barriers. I can curl 16kg x 13 reps, usually 9kg x 35 reps followed by something else, then another 9kg x 20 reps.

I'm doing crunches now. I do enough until I'm tired, then move on to another exercise, then go back to crunches. I don't know if it's a good thing to do but I tend to do as many as possible of one exercise, as many of another then back to the first one, then back to the second one.

I know I need to exercise more often. Just tough to find the time. :P

You can really feel the difference in your performance depending on how much you smoke.

I have tried to quit and even if just for a few days you just feel healthier.

At almost 7$s a pack per day i could really save alot of money.
Trust me i have figured it the amount i am spending on more than one occasion.
I have cut that cost in half though since now i'm not buying to packs every day. I have both me an Aubrey sharing a pack and lasting around 36-48 hours.

When i was in Texas and working as a plumber i was up to 2 or sometimes 3 packs a day.

Hey now!

Whatever exercise I'm able to get in usually involves walking, slow jogging, or hiking.

I've considered getting back to my free weights, but a portion of my work involves lifting and carrying fairly heavy crates, and the soreness from that is enough to dissuade me from lifting weights in a recreational manner.

Wow. Good job. I try a make people close them all the time, the best I've seen was someone closed my #2. That guy is a pretty big dude.

I can also close the #2.5 repeatedly, I can make it click shut for sets of 5 or 6. That #3 is tough. Within an 1/8th of an inch is the best I've gotten.

We bought  a stationary recumbent bike, and I've been riding it for six miles a day, five days a week, for about a year and a half so far.  I only miss due to absence or illness.

It's also my daily gaming time; pretty much every game I've completed since then has been while biking.  I intend on cranking up the tension at least once a year, and its sat on six of ten for the last year or so.

I've lost quite a bit of weight, gained muscle tone, and played through more games than any time since high school.  Win Win!

Now I'm intending on adding an additional exercise to the routine every year, starting with some upper-body.

This is actually something I intend on doing recently since you mentioned it. I also typically do push-ups/sit-ups/crunches during matchmaking or downtime between matches in Multiplayer games, though since my roommates moved in I've not been doing it (due to having 4-5 people in a room at a time).

I can't recommend it enough.  I tried everything from martial arts to a 24 hour gym, and this is the only routine I've stuck with for more than a year (not counting college PE classes.)  Its also the first workout I've looked forward to daily, because its time I can justifiably carve out to game.  That incentive has been crucial for me to keep with it even on those days I just don't want to work out.  Now my body aches a bit over the weekend when I'm not physically active, and I haven't felt that since weight training in college.

I had to radically change my diet too, due to unsafe cholesterol levels.  Lots of fasting, fresh fruit, and water.  Wouldn't have imagined such changes only a few years ago.

One of the guys at our gym is certified CoC#3.. He's also completed the "Crushed to Dust" challenge.  He was invited out to Cali for a grip competition competed well.  We mess around with grip stuff on occasion.  It's fun and breaks up the stale stuff.

Yeah, that's the beauty of a recumbent bike.  I can sit slightly reclined, holding a controller while pedaling.  Of course it isn't as good of a workout as, say, an elliptical.  But then it's the only daily routine I've actually wanted to keep doing after the first year, and its certainly gotten results in weight loss and building muscle.

Incidentally,  I just cranked the tension up to 7/10 yesterday.  Didn't feel the ache until a few hours later, unless it was there and I was just really into Dead Space 2. :D
