Bil and Duke travelled to Philadelphia for the TooManyGames convention to present a live (and much shorter) version of the Collectorcast. We discuss scores from the show as well as convention collecting tips.

We were excited to meet some of you there, and for those that want the experience the YouTube version includes video.

More like Episode 15.2! It's only one-fifth the regular length of an episode. Wink Really cool to watch a live chat.

I want to watch it, but that caveat is so strongly worded.  Plus, I've been pretending that you guys live inside my phone the whole time...

It's great to put faces with the voices after listening to you guys so long!

What does a crabby look like?

You can see Crabby's mug here: http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?topic=10174.0

@Duke.Togo: Thanks Duke! Feeling Crabby? Hahaha!

Just finished watching it, and while I was a little bit disappointed that Crabby didn't appear on that screen like Oz the Great and Powerful at any point, it was (like your audio productions) well done.  Plus, you two look so cute sitting there with your matching Apple devices I just want to pinch your cheeks!

@Silver80:

What the-- he doesn't look anything like Mike Haggar! He doesn't even look remotely mayoral. Color me disappointed...

@bombatomba:

Speaking of which: every time the Apple logo on Bil's unit dimmed, he'd immediately hit refresh, and it would brighten up again. Dude definitely likes to keep viewing those small scores, and by God, no screen saver's gonna get in his way.

@Zagnorch: I'm sure you're sad to learn that I'm not tall, asian, or a trained killer.

@Duke.Togo:  You kind of look like my dad did thirty years ago.

@Zagnorch: Is this a better one?

@bombatomba: I'm going to take that as a compliment.

@Duke.Togo: Well he was handsome enough to nail bomba's mom.......

Great show again guys.  Glad to see some faces to go with the voices.

@Crabmaster2000: I sprayed Mexican Coke all over my laptop.  Thanks, Crab...

@Zagnorch: I've been envisioning a giant talking crab this whole time. A master of the crabs, if you will.

@Crabmaster2000: I didn't know you were a roadie for Rush.

@Silver80: You mean like this guy:

Yeah, Crabby was sorely missed.  I always thought I had a face for radio and watching a little bit of this video proved it.

That's actually my wife's MacBook.  I had just set up an account for myself on it the night before and I guess I didn't adjust the power settings.

Big thanks again to everyone who came out.  The audience included Russlyman, Izret, NeoMagicWarrior, Waynepe, and John White (Assimilate, RFGen Live Camera Operator).  Met some other cool people that aren't members (yet) and we played some...TABLETOP GAMES!

@Zagnorch: Well...

@bombatomba: and you were drinking Japanese coke, right?

You guys sound so much macho-er in mp3 format.  I'm quite surprised you're only slightly buff.

@RetroRage: Well all the video game thumb exercising tends to increase the ol' testosterone level, ya know.

@Silver80: If that isn't The Deadliest Catch, then I dunno what is.

@Duke.Togo: You definitely wanna keep those thumbs in shape so you can work your joystick properly.

Duke Togo your lack of love for Boxed games breaks my heart Sad

Also I love haggling.  I use to go to this one store and everything in the store was a jk price wise.  They had thousands of games and none of them priced but when you asked the price they would always give ridiculas values and you could tell they knew nothing about the games in the store considering they sold other product as well.  Well I got sick of them always trying to give high numbers so I reversed it on them,  I went up to the counter and asked them if they Final Fantasy 3 for the snes was still $7 dollars as I discussed with them a year prior when I was there.  I odviously never did but I made them think i did and they turned around and went like oh I can't let it go that cheap I can do $10.  They thought they pulled one over on me by adding 3 dollars to what i said,  So I held in my excitemenet and acted like it was just a ok deal and I was like sure that will work.  Walked out with the game for $10 bucks, it was going for about $30 at the time.

Last but not least.  APPLE SUCKS

Such hostility Tadpole Wink I'm not against boxed games entirely, I love games that come in plastic cases. Cardboard though? Too much trouble to maintain, so I won't go out of my way for it. I have quite a few, but I'm just fine without.

Nice tactic with that store owner. The convention was a lot like that. I always know pricing is going to be bad when nothing is marked.

They are pretty pricy but I bought 400 plastic protective sleeves to go over my boxes so they stay mint.  They are working really well thankfully.  It was not til recently that I started buying games online that I got me into complete boxed games.  It is a bad time with the market as high as it is but I am nailing away at my N64 collection pretty well and I have a select handful of snes games boxed which is nice.

Yep still not a fan of APPLE Tongue

Nice show guys. I liked all the different camera shots you used, dynamic use of lighting and costume changes. Skills in cinematography and production is a great thing to have  Wink

The first game convention I went to had great prices, I mean they were really good. Over the last couple shows I've been to the prices have been going up a fair amount. There are certainly still deals to be had but many items have been getting into ebay range.

I don't haggle too much over prices. Somewhat of course but not a lot. Buying a large number of items from the same dealer is a situation were I'm always going to ask for a better price. In the end, I like to see vendors making money too.  Part of it might be since I go to the same couple shows each year, I see the same guys selling, we're getting to the point were we recognize each other. I don't want to be too hard on the people who regularly provide me games.

@Duke.Togo: The Wife saw some of your video, she thinks you look like you could be Wil Wheaton's little brother.

@nupoile: I've heard the Wil Wheaton thing before, but I don't know if I see it.

To me the haggling thing is just part of the game. Vendors are ready for it, and in some cases I think they mark their prices higher expecting it.

@Duke.Togo: Watching this collector cast inspired me to do a updated blog on my N64 boxed collection Smiley

I found it funny to drag my cursor along the progress bar on the YouTube video and watch you guys dance.
Haven't listened to the episode in its entirety yet though.

@NES_Rules: Yeah, I did the light-speed-cursor-drag thing myself.

SPILER ALERT: It made the part where they talked about trading games for meth even more amusing.

Enjoyed the show guys. Sounds like you had a decent gathering there.

Having that 1 hour time limit really neutered the bulk of the show didn't it? Wink

@SirPsycho: The "unofficial" show went on the rest of the day with the RF members who made it to the show.  Never heard of Max and Erma's before but they make a mean burger.
