MAY 2017 PLAYTHROUGH ANNOUNCEMENT
This May, join co-hosts singlebanana and Grayghost81 for an emotional and visually captivating point-and-click adventure. During the month of May, the Community Playthrough takes you across Central and Eastern Europe, with the semi-realistic/surrealistic narrative known as
Syberia. Released in 2002 and available in various formats, this game received high praise and strong reviews during its time. So far, only a sequel,
Syberia II has been released, but a third installment,
Syberia III is slated for release at the end of this month. What better way to get your feels going then to dig out and play the original again, or in many cases, for the first time, with an incredible community of gamers!
In
Syberia you play as a young, American lawyer named Kate Walker who has been sent to a quaint French village to finalize the take-over of a toy factory. Once in the village, Kate is informed that the old lady who owned the factory has died and that she must seek out her next of kin, a brother who lives on the remote and fantastical island of Syberia. This game was praised by critics for its graphic design and contains elements of both art nouveau and steampunk fiction. Most devices and tools within the game's world (including a train) are powered by springs and wind-up gears. However, the majority of accolades regarding
Syberia come from its well-written and poignant script. Our protagonist not only goes on a physical journey, but a spiritual one that has been known to cause introspection in many gamers.
We hope that you are as excited about this pick as we are! Please join us by signing up on our
Syberia discussion thread located
HERE.
Syberia is available on Xbox, 360, PS2, PS3, PC, and several mobile devices.
