We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you the "better late than never," April 2019 edition of the RF Generation's Site News! In this issue, we will announce our May 2019 community playthrough title, unveil the next game for our site shoot 'em up club, check in on the progress of the 2019 NES Site Challenge, and of course, thank those members who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals last month. Thanks for keeping it on Channel 3!

REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line.  Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!

MAY 2019 COMMUNITY PLAYTHROUGH

Join singlebanana and GrayGhost81, in May as they work their way through Detroit: Become Human the latest title from David Cage and the folks at Quantic Dream. This is their fourth venture with this writer and developer, and the boys are big fans.  Like its predecessors, Detroit's gameplay is based on dialogue decisions and quick time events (QTEs). The game takes place in the (distant...or not-so-distant??) future and centers around three controllable characters, all of which are androids. Participants will get a glimpse into a world where artificial intelligence soon blurs the boundary of artificial conscious and autonomous "deviant" behavior.

Will this title hold up to the Playcast crew's high expectations?  Will the guys be able to put aside their biases and give the game a fair review? Join us playing Detroit: Become Human and chat about it on the forums with us in May!

We hope that you are as excited about this pick as we are, so be sure to grab a copy of the game before the month begins! Also, please join in our discussion of these games by signing up on our Detroit: Become Human thread located HERE.

RF GENERATION SHMUP CLUB - MAY 2019

We started the RF Generation Shmup Club in June of 2018, hoping to expand the site's appeal, and broaden the Community Playthrough section of the forum. We have seen new members join, a podcast develop, and a lot of enthusiasm as a result of this. We started with the classic R-Type, from Irem, because it's a well regarded, iconic shooter, that has stood the test of time, and is still loved today. We followed that up immediately in July of 2018 with a classic that partially served as an inspiration, the original Gradius, by Konami. Now, in the final month of the 1st full 12-month period of the Shmup Club, we bring it full circle.

For May, 2019, we'll be playing Gradius III. Not only will we be looking at the SNES and Super Famicom home conversions of the game, but we'll also be examining the arcade game. As of now, there are 2 solid, affordable ports of the arcade original. One is in the form of Gradius III & IV on the PlayStation 2, and the other is the solid inclusion of the game in the Gradius Collection for PSP. Regardless of which iteration you play, this shoot-em-up will challenge you, with its legendary difficulty. Do you think you're ready to jump in the Vic Viper, and take on the Bacterion Empire once again? Test your mettle with us, in May 2019, and join in for Gradius III!
