Holy time warp Batman!  Where the H-E-double hockey sticks did January go? Welcome to the February 2017 edition of RF Generation's Site News!  In this issue, we announce March's community playthrough game, remind you that "HEY! There's a donation drive going on over here!", keep you informed regarding new podcast hosting, and of course, thank those members who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals during the month of January. Thanks for adjusting your V-hold and tuning in to this edition of the Site News!

REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line.  Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!

It's that time of year again, and we are currently in the midst of another site donation drive.  Donations have been great so far, but we are still going to need YOUR support to reach our goal this month.  Giving back to a good cause such as RF Generation helps us provide you we an awesome collection/cataloguing service that is cost and advertisement free so that you can streamline your collecting goals! What better cause is there to throw there to throw a few bucks at? And did I mention the prizes?

For the past two years, our staff has donated some fabulous raffle prizes for our fund drive and this year is no exception! Lots have been put together and can now be viewed HERE.  Remember that for EACH $10 you donate you will receive a ticket and your name will be entered into a raffle held at the end of the month.

Thanks to all who have donated so far this year.  If you haven't donated yet, click on this link and give what you can: http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?action=paypal.  Thank you for your support!

Playthrough host singlebanana is back to host his first game since hitting the ripe age of 40. So what better way to celebrate this momentous occasion than by picking a retro title that is as old not nearly as old as he is.  If you're a current PC gamer, or even one from "back in the day," you are going to appreciate this month's selection.  So in March, grab a controller or preferably a mouse, dim the lights, throw on some Metal, and prepare to explore the depths of Hell with the Playcast crew as we play the original Diablo on the PC and PS1. This hack and slash, action roleplaying game was revolutionary when it hit the scene in North America at the latest part of 1996 (December 31st actually!).  In this epic dungeon crawler, you can choose from a few distinct classes of characters, acquire new items and weapons, learn new spells, and dispatch all sorts of ghoulish enemies on your way to your final encounter with the fire beast, Diablo.  Unlike other dungeon crawlers before its time, participants in Diablo will enjoy randomly generated dungeons that are sure to keep adventurers on their toes.  So what are you waiting on, sign up today?..............seriously, you're not rockin' out and slaying demons yet?

We hope that you are as excited about this pick as we are!  Please join us by signing up on our discussion thread located HERE.

In continuing with our goal to improve the site, the site directors recently looked into helping out the podcasts by setting up hosting.  With the help of some talented staff members, this goal was achieved a few weeks ago and now you can find your favorite shows here at HOME!  Hosting is still in it's early stages, so the page layouts and several features are still under construction. So, be part of the fun, check it out now, and watch it grow!

Currently, all episodes of the Collectorcast are now housed here at http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/podcasts/collectorcast/  or you can be redirected by simply going to their homepage at http://www.collectorcast.com/.  You can find all the new episodes from Duke.Togo, Crabmaster2000, and wildbil52, as well as, all the older achieved episodes in case you want to start from Day 1.

Speaking of blowing the dust off some old podcasts, be sure to check out RF Generation Nation.  This classic podcast features long-time members slacker and bickman2k who bring you the latest (err....some older) news regarding the site and the goings on in the video game industry.  It's a great show, so check it out! You can find it at: http://www.rfgeneration.com/podcasts/rfgnation/.     (Any possibility of bringing it back guys?)

The Playcast has not yet been moved over, so new and old episodes can still be found at: https://rfgenplaycast.podbean.com/

I am continually amazed by the enthusiasm of our site members when I check the number of submissions at the end of each month.  Just when you think that submission numbers are outstanding (like last month's) it gets bested in a matter of a few weeks! Last month, site members contributed a total of 5,244 submissions to the database.  Of these additions, 5,172 were game submissions and 72 were hardware items. Of this total, 2,174 contributions were new images. A big thanks to all who submitted items to our database and to those who reviewed them all for the month of January 2017! We appreciate your efforts and are excited to have new listings and updates to current listings for all of our members to enjoy (for free I might add Wink ).

Our top submitters (those with a minimum of 50) for January were:

FatherJack killing it as usual. I wonder what will happen when he depletes the Euro 8-bit micro libraries?

Thanks to bickman2k and TheGrue for helping put the podcast hosting together, and Banana for putting the news together each month.

Let's see those donations fellas!
