THANK YOU STAFF!
Before getting into the site news, I first wanted to thank our awesome staff for all of their hard work in 2020. Your hard work is what keeps this site going and we wouldn't exist without you donating your time and effort. From our tireless database reviewers, to our tech staff, our dedicated podcasters and streamers, and to our writers who keep our front page filled awesome content, we sincerely

2021 RF GENERATION COMMUNITY FUND DRIVE
It's almost that time again members. February 1st will mark the start of our annual donation drive here at RF Generation, and we are asking that you donate what you can to keep our site running for another year. While RF Generation is a free site to join, we do have server costs that must be paid on a monthly basis and other expenses throughout the year. We will be taking donations throughout the month of February in an attempt to once again reach our funding goal of
$1,500.00.
As in years past, we will be holding a raffle with several lots of nice prizes. If you are interested in donating prizes to our cause, PLEASE send a private message to
singlebanana. We will post more details to the front page and forums this month regarding our Fund Drive and the prize raffle, so stay tuned. Thank you for your support in 2021!

FEBRUARY 2021 COMMUNITY PLAYTHROUGH
Next month, the Playcast begins it's 7th season as a podcast! To celebrate this momentous occasion, the guys have decided to kick it back to the earliest days the playthrough's by playing a mixture of Disney titles. In June of 2013, we played
Aladdin,
Goof Troop,
The Jungle Book and
The Lion King, and in February we have selected three Capcom titles for the NES:
DuckTales,
Chip & Dales Rescue Rangers, and
The Little Mermaid. Capcom has a reputation for putting out fun Disney titles on the NES, and we hope that this is the case with these three action-platformers.
If you're playing these
NES Disney Capcom titles along with us in February, be sure to join our forum
HERE. We plan to play each game in nine day increments, which will be posted on the playthrough thread soon. So make it your New Year's resolution to come by, sign up, and join in all of this year's community playthroughs!

FEBRUARY 2021 SHMUP PLAYTHROUGH
Despite the commercial fortunes of Sega's Dreamcast console waning quickly, after a promising start, the similarly spec'd Sega NAOMI arcade hardware fared better, continuing to grace arcades for years after Sega left the home console market. One of the developers that kept the hardware relevant was G.rev, made up of some former Taito employees. Initially cutting their teeth on assisting other developers with their shooting game properties, resulting in helping Treasure with
Ikaruga, and Konami/Treasure with
Gradius V, they began developing their own games for the NAOMI hardware. One of those releases was
Under Defeat, which reached arcades in October 2005. A few months later, it then released in 2006 for the Dreamcast, roughly 5 years after the system's commercial viability had all but dried up.
Under Defeat sees you take control of an attack helicopter, in an alternate WWII timeline. Controlling this craft for The Empire, a German-speaking armed force, you take on The Union, an English-speaking armored alliance. You must defeat your enemy at all cost, lest The Empire fall into ruin.
Under Defeat was also released in 2011 on the Xbox 360 (in Japan), and the PlayStation 3 in both Japan and the West, as
Under Defeat HD. Join the RF Generation Shmup Club in February 2021, as we play
Under Defeat!
