Join RF Generation Playcast hosts, Rich (singlebanana), Shawn (GrayGhost81), and returning guest, Pam (host of Cannot Be Tamed and Media Mavens) as they discuss a lesser known title from a well-known developer.  This month's Playcast plunges into Febrauray's site playthrough of Murdered: Soul Suspect, which was developed by Square Enix.  Opinions of this game typically range from both ends of the spectrum, so how will our cast of gamers fall on it?  Is it worth the few bucks a used copy commands, or are you better off leaving it on the shelf?  Did Rich enjoy the overall narrative?  Did Pam take issue with the combat?  And did Shawn enjoy making little cat sounds?  Be sure to tune in to this episode of the RF Generation Playcast to find out!

Join these playthrough gurus as they review their maiden voyages through the game and try to determine what makes classic gamers dote upon it so. Topics discussed include: the general story, the revolutionary menu system, upgrades, general enemy and boss battles, and of course, the musical score. Having recently played both of Square's "Secret" SNES titles, Rich takes a few minutes to discuss the verbal war that often rages between Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore fans and whether or not either argument holds water. Last month's SideCast for E3 2016 was a product of our excitement over the event and our first attempt at getting together to discuss something other than our experiences with a game.  Little did we know that something announced at that event would come out of the blue and have such a huge impact on three of our members.  During this SideCast #2, join singlebanana, GrayGhost81, and Fleach, as they discuss the worldly, mobile gaming sensation, Pokemon GO. How have we been progressing through the game in it's first few weeks, what features do we like and which do think need improvement, and what is it that makes some of us (who previously had no love for Pokemon) fans of this AR experience?  So join us as we recount our early efforts to catch 'em all and dissect what it is about this game that has people excited throughout the world.  Is this app merely a fad, or something that could have significant staying power?  Thanks for listening!

I'm sorry (not so sorry) to say that what you are about to hear is not the Illuision of Gaia playthrough podcast that you might have been anticipating.  No worries though, that will be available for your listening pleasure in just a few more days.  In the meantime, we hope that you enjoy this special recording that the guys and I did for E3 2016.  After watching the pressers and some of the trailers surrounding this year's event, the guys and I kept going back and forth texting about games and other things that interested us about the event.  Finally, we just decided, why not just set a time, switch on the mics, and talk candidly about our experience and the releases that we are looking forward to?  We sincerely hope that you enjoy our take on the event and items presented over that week, and if feedback is positive, we may consider more sidecasts like this in the future.  Thanks for listening!

Posted under playthrough, June, 2016, Illusion of Gaia, playcast

For our June Community Playthrough, we will be playing the often overlooked hidden gem for the Super NES, Illusion of Gaia!  This title (known in PAL regions as Illusion of Time) is an action RPG whose gameplay can most likely be compared to such other SNES classics as Secret of Mana and Secret of Evermore, and has also drawn comparisons to the classic Legend of Zelda games.  However, this game features a unique leveling system that eschews experience points in favor of a permanent stat bonus every time you clear an area of enemies.

In Illusion of Gaia, you play as Will, a young boy from a small seaside town.  He accompanies his father on an expedition to uncover the secrets of the Tower of Babel, but the explorers instead met with a mysterious disaster.  Will, the only known survivor of this expedition, manages to make it back to his hometown, although he does not remember how.  Now, a year later, a mysterious being known as Gaia tells him that he must leave his home to save the world from a coming evil.  Perhaps you may also finally discover the truth behind the ill-fated expedition along the way?

Illusion of Gaia will take you on an epic journey across many real-world, historical locations, including ancient Incan ruins and the Great Wall of China.  Armed with only a flute, you will have to defeat many enemies and epic bosses, solve puzzles, and harness the powers that Will gains along the way.   Will you be able to save the world from its impending doom? Join us this June for what will be a playthrough of epic proportions and give it a shot!

Please join us for our playthrough of Illusion of Gaia in June by signing up for our discussion thread here: http://www.rfgeneration.c...m/index.php?topic=16769.0
