The Legend of Oasis is the followup/prequel to Beyond Oasis. It was also developed by Ancient and composed by the studio's founder Yuzo Koshiro. It was released in 1996 for the Sega Saturn and was built off of the same engine that powered Beyond Oasis (The Story of Thor for those outside North America). The Legend of Oasis keeps the same feeling and exploration style of the first game while introducing new puzzles and a new map.

Ladies and Gentlemen...Today, I give you the 1st entry of the Sequel to my own Power Glove Gaming Series...As suggested by bickman2k (but with a twist!), it's...

Super Mario 64: Shindou Edition (Shindou is Japanese for "tremor") is a re-release of Super Mario 64 in Japan that supports the Rumble Pak, and has a few extra features, including a Title Screen Easter Egg, where if you press the Z Button, Mario's face will multiply in the background. But enough on that. On to how it played using the Reality Glove...

It wasn't the easiest thing in the world, I can tell you that right now. My wrist is killing me. Tongue

See, to control Mario using the Glove, you need to hold your hand sideways, as if picking up a Drink Glass. Then, you need to tilt your hand upwards to move him forward, down to move him backwards, and so on. Because the Glove is so sensitive to movement, this made the game unusually difficult to play.

I first noticed the difficulty while scaling the spiral Bob-omb Mountain to get to the Bob-omb King. Because you'll likely be tilting your hand upwards constantly, you'll find yourself hugging the wall a lo, which slows progress significantly. When you finally do get to the top of the mountain, you'll find yourself having to deal with the King.

As you all probably know, you have to get behind him, grab him, and throw him 3 times to defeat him. Simple, yes? Not this time, friend. Sure, it's easy enough to get behind him the first time, but the second and third times will have you twirling your hand, and in turn, your wrist, trying to get behind him, possibly causing carpal tunnel. Tongue

I thought about quitting after beating him, but I wanted to experiment a little further, so I tried the race with Koopa The Quick. Big mistake.

As I mentioned before, you'll be hugging the wall a lot, so once you get to the mountain, the race becomes that much more challenging. You might even fall off the top before hitting the flag! All this being said, this is not a game to play with the Reality Glove.

Verdict: Don't even try it.

Well, that's it for the first entry. Check back soon for more!

I can't take a breath without seeing Mr. Death....

The 11th Hour is an exploration puzzle solving mystery game that was released for Windows in 1995 and on Mac in 1996.  It is the sequel to The 7th Guest and takes place in the same mansion as the first game, only 60 years later.  The player takes on the role of Carl Denning, an investigative reporter who is looking for the missing producer of his TV show in the Stauf mansion.

I have found a very much under-the-radar, mom-and-pop local game store...and I will likely be spending my time and money there and no longer primarily at thrift stores. I was referred to this game store by a younger kid running rides at my local amusement park over the summer when I asked where he bought his sweet hoodie. (It was an imported Naruto hoodie from Japan. It had Sasuke's head in a small logo on the front, and the Uchiha clan symbol on the back. Not sure if there are any other anime fans here or not).

This store has EVERYTHING. I saw a lot of stuff in person for the first time here, Famicom games, Super Famicom games, an Atari LYNX, A Power glove, A 3DO, Neo Geo, and even a few Nomads. I guess they make enough to stay in business and continue to import new products from Japan like clothes, drinks, small collectables and such, but don't really move much older merchandise; proving my original thought that the Retro gaming market around Denver stinks.

The biggest problem was that my wife was with me, as well as our kids...if they weren't there, I probably would have stayed until they closed talking games with the owner and his son, but we only stayed for about 45 minutes. I will definitely be going back whenever I have extra time or money. It is so nice to finally have somewhere to go that isn't a big name store with multiple locations that price off Ebay when you ask about a game instead of putting price tags on stuff.

Question: what the heck is going on with sports games? I mean, if you're a console gamer, then they're considered over-abundant to the point of being cast off as nearly disposable. Each iteration of each individual series is being released annually so that the supply is so ridiculously high that eBay sellers of console lots need warn prospective buyers "L@@K! NO SPORTS GAMES!!!!" And yet PC gamers - the so-called "master race" seem to be struggling to find recent installments at all in some cases.
