Hey, you! There's this really tough student that's driving us all nuts! Your gonna go beat him up, right?! Right! Now get to it!

Here we go again! Kenka Bancho 4 is the sequel to Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble for the PSP. This beat'em up is about Yuuta, who transfers to a new school full of tough kids, because he wants to beat up the strongest student there. When he arrives, he learns that he needs to get the student's attention to be able to meet and fight him. To do that, he needs to beat up all 300 students at his new school!

Being the sequel to Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble, the core gameplay remains the same, but with a few differences. You are no longer required to do stuff by a time limit now, for example. You can still customize your character and his fighting moves, so that's cool. Another neat little feature is that you can rename all the students at your school. Odd, but still neat.

Another thing about this game is fighting with honor. For example, you should never just walk up to a student and hit them. To initiate a fight, you should use the Menchi Beam instead. The Menchi Beam is a laser eye beam that signals another student to fight you. Upon using it, you will trade insults via a mini-game where you press a button at the right time. If you win, you get the first strike. If they win, they hit you first. As I mentioned before, you must fight with honor to remain a cool badass. As such, you shouldn't use weapons, just your bodily techniques to fight.

Overall, this is one hell of a game, and a great improvement over Badass Rumble. This is one of those rare cases where the sequel is better than the prequel.

Back in the day, Video Games were heavily advertised through TV. Today, not so much. Today, I'm here to show you my favorites. Here we go!

Pac-Man (Atari 2600)

Super Mario RPG (Super Famicom)

Genesis Does!

Donkey Kong Country (Super Nintendo)

Pokemon Red and Blue (Gameboy)

Well, that's all. I actually enjoy a lot more than this, but I didn't want to take up too much space.

Back in 1982, DragonStomper was released for the Atari 2600 Supercharger. Today, I have remade this game for the PC!

Designed to be a Fan-Remake of the original (as I do not own the rights to the name), DragonStomper Redux follows the titular Dragon Hunter, Lioma, in his quest to slay Kilkorin, a Dragon that has stolen the Kingdom of Klau's Magical Amulet. Although the Plot is essentially the same as that of the original game, there are some twists to this Remake's Story.

FAQ

Q: How much does this cost?
A: It's free. I do not own the rights to the name, and this is a FANMADE game.

Q: Who made this?
A: I did, with input from friends.

Q: The Platform?
A: PC only.

Q: The engine?
A: RPG Maker VX Ace.

Q: Why DragonStomper?
A: Why NOT DragonStomper? It's probably the first RPG ever! Cheesy

Q: Any tips?
A: This game is NOT about going in to face problems head on. You need to think some things through, or you won't get very far. Also, search EVERYWHERE.

Q: Release date?
A: Unknown. It is currently in what I like to call a Pre-Beta test.

Q: Any Screenshots?
A: No, but I plan to unleash a trailer to the public at some point before release.

That's pretty much it. Look forward to this game, but don't hold your breath. I can't release in it's current state, so please be patient.

The RPG (Role Playing Game) is one of the many genres of games out there, and it is, without a doubt, my favorite genre. From the Epic Gameplay to the Intriguing Stories, these are my favorite ones. Here we go!

King's Field

King's Field is a First Person RPG for the PS1. Perhaps it is best known as the First (Second in Japan) Predecessor to the immensely popular PC/PS3/360 RPG Dark Souls. However, this game plays much differently from Dark Souls. As I mentioned before, it's a First Person RPG, and while it isn't the prettiest thing in existence, it's Gameplay is solid.

Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time

Ah, Final Fantasy. Once the most popular RPG Series EVER, it fell off it's throne a while back, and has been going downhill ever since. That doesn't mean they're all bad though. Echoes of Time is one such example. While not the most well known in the once beloved series, it's still quite the fun Action-RPG. You create an Avatar to use, and you can customize they're skills in pretty much any way that you want. Although it's unusual for Final Fantasy to do something like that, it was a welcome change.

Fire Emblem Awakening

Fire Emblem Awakening is the latest title in--What? You say you've read this already? Oh. Alrighty, I'll keep it short then. Fire Emblem + Avatar Creation + Epic Story + Amazing Gameplay = WIN! Even though it can't top a certain game on this list (You'll see it soon), it's still amazing.

Makai Toushi Saga

Now we're talking! Makai Toushi Saga is a remake of Final Fantasy Legend for the Game Boy, one of my favorite Game Boy Games ever, and an epic RPG in it's own right. Recently Fan-Translated, Makai Toushi Saga is about an Adventurer who decides to climb a Tower to Heaven, to find out exactly what's up there, as all before the Adventurer have failed. Epic Story, refreshing Gameplay, and more, this game is one you MUST try.

Chrono Cross

Chrono Cross is the most EPIC. RPG. EVER. Period. With an emotional story, unique (but brilliant RPG Gameplay), amazing Characters, and more, no RPG can top this one, not even the mighty Final Fantasy VII. In fact, dare to compare:
GameSpot's Score of FF7: 9.5
GameSpot's Score of CC: 10
But don't they're word for it, take mine. As a person who has experienced this game many times over, I never get tired of it. It is, and always will be, my favorite RPG ever. Not only that, it's my favorite game in general. Sure, you can argue that it was confusing, but it's not if you play Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreamers (Japan Only, Fan Translation available). So what are you waiting for? Go play it!

Before I begin, I'll have to ask you all to forgive my weird Blog Title, and blame Crabmaster2000. He comes up with the best ideas, using the games you've played to make a Blog Title. No copyright infringement intended. I just enjoy his awesome idea. Anyway...

Fire Emblem Awakening is the latest title in the Fire Emblem Series of Strategy-RPGs. Sporting an Avatar (Custom Character) Creation feature (This is actually the 2nd time the series has done this), 3D Visuals, and fun gameplay, all of these features combine perfectly to make one hell of a fun game. I haven't had this much fun with an SRPG in years, and I highly recommend it. It also manages to suck you in. Before I knew it, 2 Hours had passed from when I started playing it.

Foto Showdown DSi puts a new twist on the Pokemon Formula by using Photos. How? Well, you snap a picture with your DSi Camera, and a Monster will be made from it. You then use that Monster to battle with other Monsters in a tournament. It's pretty much a direct copy of Pokemon, but with Photos. It's actually pretty fun though.

Here's one I'm sure you all know very well by now. Fallout New Vegas is like a cross between an FPS and an RPG. It revolves around a Courier and a special Casino Chip that is stolen from them. Said Chip is the key to determining who will rule New Vegas in a Post-Apocalyptic Nevada. Crazy as it all may seem, it really is a fun game, and I'm really enjoying it.

Well, that's all for now. Check back later for more entries.

Posted under Consoles, Gaming, Top10

Let's face it. Gaming is in our (The Members of RFGeneration) blood. There are games we love, and games we hate. Without the hardware though, how could we play all of these games? Today, I'm here to reveal the Consoles that have made they're mark in my life as the best of the best. Here we go!

Number 10

Ah, the Nintendo Gamecube. Popularly known as Nintendo's jump into the Compact Disc market, this console, like most of Nintendo's hardware, carried the title of "Kid's System". Despite this, it features many Triple-A Titles, like Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Mario Sunshine, and Metroid Prime. Even it's lesser known titles are Triple-A, like Virtua Quest, Phantasy Star Online EPs I+II Plus, and Tales of Symphonia. Without a doubt, this console has many fun titles that are sure to keep you busy.

Stand Out Titles:
Virtua Quest
Phantasy Star Online EPs I+II Plus
PC-Genjin Remake (Known as Bonk's Adventure in the US)

Number 9

The Atari 5200 was not nearly as popular as Atari's previous console, the 2600. This, along with other factors, doomed it to failure. Still, it features a strong fanbase who cared enough to produce Homebrew Titles for it. It also had more power than the ColecoVision, but it's controllers left something to be desired. In this day and age though, you can buy rebuilt controllers that are more reliable than stock controllers. This console features an undeniable charm in my eyes, which is why it finds itself at Number 9.

Stand Out Titles:
Mario Bros.
Pac-Man
Defender

Number 8

The Neo-Geo CDZ is an upgraded version of the Neo-Geo CD. Featuring faster load times than the original model, it still never caught on, due to a flaw that made it overheat a lot. Still, it's an awesome console, and for good reason: It sports many arcade-perfect ports of some of the most awesome fighting games ever. If not for the overheating problem, it would've found itself higher on this list. Still, you can't go wrong with arcade-perfect ports of the best fighting games ever.

Stand Out Titles:
King of Fighters 97
Fatal Fury 3
Samurai Shodown RPG

Number 7

The Panasonic 3DO...a console that was doomed to fail when it should have succeeded. It's ONLY failing point was it's high price tag of 700 US Dollars. (!!) Still, when it came to FMV (Full Motion Video) Games, there was none other that could stand against it. It was incredibly powerful for it's time, and featured what is quite frankly the best version of Street Fighter II.

Stand Out Titles:
Mad Dog McCree
Wing Commander III
Street Fighter II

Number 6

The TurboGrafx-16/PC-Engine was NEC's stab at the NES. NEC's claim was that it featured bigger and better graphics than the NES. While this was true, it failed to gain the attention of gamers at the time. Still, I like this console a lot. It featured many unique games at the time, including the incredibly fun-to-play Silent Debuggers. A fun fact, it was advertised to be 16-Bits, but it was actually just two 8-Bit Processors.

Stand Out Titles:
Silent Debuggers
Splatterhouse
Street Fighter II (This was an achivement on this console, due to space limitations)

Number 5

"Genesis does what Nintendon't!" That was Sega's answer to Nintendo more than 20 years ago with they're Genesis Console. Despite being slow out of the gate, the switch to a new CEO made this console storm ahead of the NES with an awesome new game, Sonic The Hedgehog. While it is true that the Audio isn't as good as the SNES and that the Add-Ons weren't as popular as Sega had hoped, it still had many great games that were all it's own, one hell of an awesome controller, and let's not forget the Blast Processing.

Stand Out Titles:
Sonic The Hedgehog
Phantasy Star III
Space Harrier II

Number 4

The Atari Jaguar, Atari's last console, was called the first 64-Bit Console by Atari. Atari tried they're best to market it as being the greatest console ever, but ultimately failed. Nonetheless, the console has a strong fanbase to this day, which still produces homebrew titles for it. This console has been one of my favorites for ages now, and I'm still purchasing games for it to this day. Honestly, I can't explain why I love it so much. I just do. It's that simple.

Stand Out Titles:
NBA Jam TE
Ultra Vortek
Cybermorph

Number 3

The Sega Saturn is, without a doubt, a love it or hate it console. I obviously love it, and for good reason. Featuring some of the best 2D Games ever, not to mention some 3D Gems, the Sega Saturn proved to be a diamond in the rough for Sega's most loyal fans. Unfortunately, it proved to be a flop in the eyes of consumers. Still, when it comes to hearts of true gamers, the Saturn stands out as one of the best.

Stand Out Titles:
Panzer Dragoon Saga
Sonic Jam
Magic Knight Rayearth

Number 2

Now we're talking. The Sega Dreamcast is popularly known as the first HD Console. Ahead of it's time, this thing was meant to destroy the PS1 and N64, as well as they're successors. Unfortunately, after the PS2 was released, it basically fell off the face of the earth. Still, the Dreamcast was a great console. It also did Online Play first.

Stand Out Titles:
Sonic Adventure
Shenmue
Evolution

Number 1

The NES is the BEST console ever. When Nintendo came to power in 1985, they released this monster of a console, effectively saving gaming from the endless pits of darkness. The NES is legendary among gamers now, featuring countless Franchise launches, hundreds of thousands of memories, and of course, great games. There is no console in my eyes that can stand against it.

Stand Out Titles:
Super Mario Bros.
Final Fantasy
The Legend of Zelda

Well, that's it. Thanks for reading!

Here's an interesting one. After Mike Tyson was defeated by Buster Douglas in 1990 (Possibly 1991, I'm not entirely sure), Sega released this sports title in response to Mike Tyson's Punch Out. A short game, there's not really much depth to it, so this will be a very short review.

Gameplay: 6/10

It's a 2D boxing game. You select one of 5 Boxers, including Buster Douglas himself if you want, and fight your way through the 4 other boxers, ultimately aiming to become the World Champion. After you become World Champion, you have to defend your title by fighting the 4 Boxers again, only it's tougher this time, and with the addition of a 5th Boxer, Iron Head, whom I still haven't beaten.

Graphics: 10/10

The graphics are awesome. They look exactly like an Arcade Game from the time period. Of course, this game DID start as an Arcade Game called "Final Blow". Buster Douglas is, in fact, actually just a palette swap. Palette swapping fighters seemed to be popular at the time. (I'm looking at you, Street Fighter 2).

Difficulty: Unbalanced

Okay, sure, the game does start out easy, and is pretty much that way for the entire game, but when you fight the last boss, Iron Head, it gets very hard, to the point where you will be mashing buttons in anger. That's what makes it unbalanced. I personally hate this in games, and I'm sure many others do too.

Sound: ??/10

Unfortunately, I had to keep the volume all the way down at my time of playing this, so I cannot judge the sound at this time. I'll edit this review as soon as I can. Sorry about that.

Overall: 6.5/10

This is a decent game, and there IS fun to be had, but it's incredibly short, and not as colorful as Mike Tyson's Punch Out. In fact, you can win most of the fights simply by mashing buttons, which may take away from the fun for some people. You owe it to yourself to at least try this one.

Thanks for reading!

Shenmue...a game I've been trying to play for about 3 years now, but several broken Dreamcasts/Bad Discs have prevented me from playing it. Tonight though, I was able to finally play it, and I gotta say, it's pretty good. Here are some reasons why it's good:

-It's VERY interactive. You can check just about everything in this game.
-It's comprised of 3 Discs, so I know it's quite lengthy.
-The graphics are just gorgeous.

It also seems to feel like an interactive mystery rather than a Video Game. It's very atmospheric, and with no music while you explore, it feels real. I mean, come on. Do you really hear music while you walk around in real life? Of course, there is the bad:

-Voice Acting could be slightly better. (This does not bother me, but it may bother others).
-Control is somewhat clunky.
-It may feel tedious at times.

So far, I like what I see, but can it hold my attention? We'll find out soon enough. As soon as I play more, I'll write a full review.

Thanks for reading!

Super Mario, a name we all know and love...Has he ever disappointed us? Nope. However, even our friendly neighborhood Plumber has skeletons in his closet. Today, I'm here to tell you the story of the Mario Game that could have been. This is the story of...

Super Mario's Wacky Worlds was to be developed for the Philips CD-i by a company called NovaLogic. It was to be the sequel to Super Mario World. Developers Silas Warner and John Brooks were drafted as the game's designers, and worked 24 hours a day for two weeks on the game, finishing only a part of one level to present to Nintendo. Their meeting with the Nintendo developers came at 8:00 AM on a Friday morning, and they had their short part of the game on a disc four hours before this. Nintendo was very much impressed at the two men's job, but because of poor CD-i sales was forced to cancel the game. This ended the CD-i career of Warner, who had expected Nintendo's exact reaction, however other developers such as lead artist Nina Stanley stayed with the project.

So what became of this game? It was unfinished and ultimately never released. Well, officially, anyway. There is a Prototype ISO floating around the Web that can be played, but it is far from a complete game. Anyway, after this game was cancelled, we got this...

That's Hotel Mario, also for the CD-i. It's a Puzzle Game with some platforming elements. The general goal in each stage is to close all the doors on every floor. However, various enemies will interfere and reopen them at times. Elevators are needed to travel between floors. It can be quite difficult at times, even to the point where it would become un-fun to the casual gamer. Anyway, this game is generally not accepted by Mario Fans, or Nintendo for that matter, despite it being a decent game.

Well, that's all. Thanks for reading! Smiley

"Twas the night before Christmas, and all through the House, not a Gamer was stirring...Not even Izret."

Redd: Pfffft. Yeah, right! We're all gaming tonight!

Izret: Hey Redd, remember last year? You told us the story of how you saved Christmas of '98 with your Power Glove.

Slackur: ...What?

Bickman: It's true. He told this hour-long story where he supposedly saved Christmas one year with his Power Glove.

Zagnorch: Like I said, that never happened.

Redd: Yes, it did! Hell, I've got a Million Stories!

Zagnorch: Okay, smart-ass. Tell us another one.

Bickman: Oh, this oughta be good. Tongue

Redd: Alright...this is the story of how Coleco defeated Atari and Fairchild and went on to become the leading Video Game Company in the world. It all started when--

Zagnorch: WHOA! Wait a damn minute! That never happened!

Redd: Yes it did! Let me finish!

Zagnorch: (Grumbles)

Redd: See, back in 2001, I found this old Machine that lets one travel to different universes. I used it, and ended up in a universe much like ours, except here, Coleco was the leading company. Not just in the US, but the whole world.

Bickman: ......Are you high?

Redd: Shut up and listen. See, while I was in this universe, I found an old book detailing Coleco's rise to power. Here's what I read: It started when Atari jumped into the Market with Pong for the 2600. It was a huge success. It sold out quite fast. At this point, a company called Fairchild jumped in with they're Channel F Console. It was also successful, and a fierce clash between Atari and Fairchild erupted. No one could maintain a definite lead. After about 2 years, Coleco showed up and entered into the clash with they're own Console, the ColecoVision. They licensed Donkey Kong, and it sold out in no time. With this, Fairchild gave up and left the battle. However, Atari wouldn't be knocked down that easily. They knew they needed a game to defeat the Arcade-Perfect Port of Donkey Kong, so they developed a plan...That plan was to create Two Video Games: One based off of E.T., and one that was a Port of the Arcade-Hit, Pac-Man. What could possibly go wrong, Atari said to themselves. Within a mere month, Atari unleashed Pac-Man and E.T. to widespread hatred. Atari was collapsing, and Coleco saw this as an opening. They went to Namco, and claimed they could create a Port of Pac-Man that would make Namco millions. The CEO of Namco was skeptical to say the least, but he agreed, and gave Coleco a chance. Two months later, Coleco released they're version of Pac-Man. It was they're biggest hit, and people absolutely loved it, quickly tossing aside Atari's Pac-Man for Coleco's. Coleco and Namco made more money than they thought they would, and Coleco went on to create more great games, many of them original. Atari was defeated, and could do nothing to stop Coleco. It was almost like they fell off the face of the earth. By 2004, Atari was forgotten by everyone. Nintendo tried to compete with Coleco at one point, but failed when Coleco unveiled they're newest system, which also had Arcade-Perfect Ports. No one could stand up to Coleco, and as such, Coleco just kept making more consoles, up to the point where they're name was synonymous with Video Games in general. And that, my friends, is how Coleco conquered the world of gaming. Smiley

Zagnorch: What...the...hell...

Slackur: Dude, that was painful to listen to...

Bickman: Try picturing it.

(Laugh track)

Redd: Hey, you guys asked me to tell a story, so I did. You mad?

Izret: Yes.

Slackur: And what did ANY of that have to do with Christmas?

Redd: Well, it happened during December of 2001, so...yeah...

Bickman: Your crazy.

Redd: Thank you, I try.

Bickman: (Sigh)

Redd: Anyway, from all of us here at RF Generation, we wish you a Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! Cheesy

The End.

That game is Idolmaster SP: Perfect Sun for the PSP. Released only in Japan, it was fan translated, allowing English-Speakers to enjoy it. It brings with it a unique genre known as the Raising Sim, which you don't see much of here in the US. Where to begin...

The Idolmaster (actually spelled iDOLM@ASTER) series of games are a big hit in Japan, though they are widely unknown in the US, due to none of the games being officially released here. In the games, you take on the role of a Producer whose job is to help girls known as "Idols" become successful. In case you weren't aware, an Idol is a heavily promoted singer or actor, in this case a singer. The only difference with this title in the series is that you only help one girl at a time, as opposed to many at once.

You pick one of three girls to manage, and you have to train her to sing with a rhythm mini-game of sorts, interact with her, and generally manage her day (your day as well). If she becomes successful over the course of 52 weeks (I think it's 52, it's been a while since I've played this one), you win the game.

As mentioned above, this is a Raising Sim, but there's also some Visual Novel elements thrown in, but there's no graphic adult material, so anyone 16 and older should be able to play it.

So why should you play this game? If you live in the US and enjoy Anime, you'll enjoy this, as it's completely fresh and new (at least, it was for me). It's most likely going to be unlike anything you've ever played before.

Hey man, it's the King!
-Claude Speed, the Protagonist of Grand Theft Auto 2

Grand Theft Auto 2 is, without a doubt, one of the funnest games for the PlayStation. Released in 1999, this (somewhat) Open-World Crime Game is (obviously) the sequel to Grand Theft Auto, also on the PlayStation. Even though the improvements over the first one were only slight, they made for one hell of a fun game. Many will probably tell you that this game hasn't aged well, but that's crap. This game is the very pinnacle of fun on the PlayStation. It's assortment of Action, Comedy, and References come together for a thing that can be called near-perfect.

Unlike the later games in the series (sans Chinatown Wars), this one is played from a top-down perspective. The point of the game is to do jobs for various gangs, earning enough cash to proceed to the next level. It's kind of hard for me to describe this game's actual gameplay, so I won't. Besides, you should really experience this game for yourself. If you like retro games (which I'm sure you do), I'm sure you'll enjoy this gem.

One of the coolest things about this game is that it got a short film adaption titled "GTA2: The Movie". I've never seen it myself though.

This was also the first GTA Game I ever played, receiving it in Christmas of 2000. Believe it or not, I still have yet to beat it though.

Also, you may remember me posting something about making a documentary. Don't worry, it's not cancelled. It's just on hold while I look for a new Video Camera.

This is me (finally) defeating Gyaku on Kasumi Ninja for the Atari Jaguar. This freak was super tough. Seriously, I've been trying to do him in for days. I guess this victory was just dumb luck. Tongue

Anyway, that's all for now. More videos to come soon!

UPDATE

Okay, NOW he is dead.

I've always loved Gaming Movies of all kinds. Despite the fact that people hate most of them, if not that, then all of them, I've decided to make a Documentary/Review Movie of sorts for fun! As you can see from the title, it will be called Retro Redd. It's gonna take some time to make, as it's only in the planning stages right now, but I can't imagine it taking more than a month to complete, what with me planning to keep things simple and all. Anyway, I just felt like announcing this little plan of mine for all of you to hear. So...yeah. Look forward to it.

Also, if your wondering about my Power Glove Gaming Series and it's absence, you can stop now, as my Power Glove Sensors are still broken, and I don't know when I can replace them.
