Recently I placed an order in Amazon Marketplace for a textbook that I needed for a class. Well, the book finally came, and in addition to the book I needed I got 6 more of the same book. I only paid for one book. I would like to give them their books back, but I do not really want to have to use my money to ship them back.

So the question arises:

What are my duties to the seller? They are technically his books, so I would think that he would most likely have to pay for shipping. Is this the case? I just want to do what is right, and would appreciate it if anyone would be able to shed some light on this predicament.

just contact him and let him know what happened. let him pay for shipping. i'm sure he would be more than happy to send you the shipping funds.

happens here at work from time to time. if we ship something in error we are responsible for the return freight.

I agree.
Contact him if the person wants them back then they will pay for the shipping back.

I can't see the indivudual saying "Thanks for letting my know i sent you 6 instead of one. Send me them back now."

Although depending on how cheap you got the book it may not be worth the sellers money to get the books back.

Oh these books are worth about 100 dollars each, so it would be in his best interests to get them back.

I am going to go ahead an email the seller, I just wanted to make sure I would not be screwed into footing the return shipping bill.

Could be, but my moral code of ethics would have me feeling guilty about such a deed.

If I was as evil as you or you cousin perhaps, yet I am no where near as evil as your cousin.
