Can anyone tell the difference between "Star Fox" and "Star Fox (Scoop Cart)" that are in the DB?

Star Fox - http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-044-S-05250-A

Star Fox (Scoop Cart) - http://www.rfgeneration.c...nfo.pl?ID=U-044-S-05250-B

They have the same UPC so how would I know which one I have? Google wasn't helpful.

Thanks

This one is from before my time on the db, honestly no idea lol.

I'd stick with the normal version, and if we can't get an answer perhaps we can merge the two entries.

I think I know now, when the lower part of the middle of SNES carts were changed to circumvent the locking mechanism that originally kept the cart from being able to be pulled out when the system was on?

So do many SNES games have a scoop cart version then, if it was to circumvent the locking mechanism?

The cart design was changed halfway through 1993. Games with print runs before and after this point have notch and scoop variants. They changed it due to people forcibly yanking out the carts and damaging their system doing so. The scoop cart pushes the lock out and simply turns the system off instead of actually locking in. They added a warning sticker under the system power switch after this as well. In practice, the only danger is your save sometimes getting erased so they dropped the pretense with the SNES Jr.

Interesting. I see the different cart designs on eBay listing for Star Fox, Super Mario World, and others like:

Mario OG: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...7b%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9Les_r5Yg

Mario scoop: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR9Les_r5Yg

Star Fox OG: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...6w%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8a23a35Yg

Star Fox scoop: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR8a23a35Yg

Mario Kart OG: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...41Z9%7Ctkp%3ABFBMmrW3xPpi

Mario Kart scoop: https://www.ebay.com/itm/...LCtf%7Ctkp%3ABFBMmrW3xPpi

Thanks for answering!
