In anticipation of a new addition to our family, I've been working non-stop to get my new house in order.  Among these projects is my upstairs game room, which I've posted a few pictures of when I first moved in.  Well, after a lot of hard work, I've gotten most of my collection organized, except for determining what to do with displaying all of my controllers and housing my hookups so that I can locate them easily.  Please feel free to comment on the pics and as always, any advice is greatly appreciated.

I utilized the shelving that I found in my garage and it makes a fairly good looking console display area.

Another view of the shelving and my TV.  The NES2 is hooked up and at the bottom of the TV stand.

As I mentioned that I might do, I moved the desk to the other side of the room.  I've got one of my 2600s hooked up to a space saver TV and the Vectrex displays pretty good there.  Plus, I have an area to clean games and work on consoles.  I bought a bin which houses all of my loose GB, GBA, and GG games and hand helds.

I decided to just buy three put togther shelves to save money for now.  I bought three five-level shelves at Wal-mart, which are much more substantial than the older ones that I have and look pretty nice.  The majority of my games are located here.  More pics of this area below:

Boxes of remaining controllers and hookups.  Still thinking of putting a 2' x 6' pegboard on this wall.  Thinking of putting contollers in freezer bags, putting holes in the top of the bags, and hanging them on the hooks for display.  I'll probably organize and bag all of my hookups and get another large set of bins for them.

I moved the NES games off of this self onto the sturdier new black ones I bought.  I have a few games here: Jaguar, Saturn, Sega CD, and 3DO; however, I'd like to do something a bit better with this shelving.  I guess for now it's just room to grow.

I literally bought this 2 days after I moved in.  My wife was annoyed with me for thinking that I needed to install it, but with 2 young kids, I wanted to not only protect my collection, but keep them from climbing on shelves that might fall.  Comical, yet essential.

It looks great!  I like how clean the consoles look displayed like that.  I also have one of those black 5 shelf units, except mine is from Target.  Everything looks very nicely displayed.

Lookin good! I really like your console display in particular. Just need to hide those cords running down the back and it'll look even more fantastic.

Another option other than the locking door (which is a good idea) is to just slap a child proofing cover on the regular knob. That way your wife wont think your quite as crazy Tongue

I actually put the door on upside down to my game room so the knob is a bit higher than it should be. It prevented my toddler from grabbing it and getting in until he was mature enough to handle things with care.

@blcklblskt: Those bookcases were $24 each at Wal-mart, which I thought was a very good deal and they fit nicely underneath my slanted ceiling.

@Crabmaster2000: Yeah, I'm really digging the console display as well and agree regarding the cords.  I am currently saving twist ties to try and clean it up a bit from behind.  The door knob is a bit excessive, but it literally took me 10 minutes to install it, since there was already a knob there and I've become rather proficient at it over the years.  I'm not a big fan of the child proof cover, since anything child proof is even quite aggravating for adults. Smiley

Like everyone else, I really dig the console display.

I wish I had that kind of space to spread mine out like that.

And now that I think about it, I need to get a new door knob for my room, too...
