Seriously though, 45,000 screenshots is a lot of screenshots, and they were all submitted by members just like you. So thanks to all of you who have submitted one or more of those 45000 screenshots, without you, we wouldn't be here.
And a special thanks to member Aeroc, for not only submitting lucky number 45,000 but for also submitting what seems like another 20,000 or so screenshots over the years. Really though, this guy has over 11,000 images credited to him in our DB.
So now that we have 45000 screenshots, its only 5000 until we get to the really incredible 50,000 mark, why not help us reach that a little sooner and start submitting some screenshots? We're not super picky, you can use an emulator (just don't ask us where to find one or the ROMs, we can't tell you that), or use a video capture device on the real hardware, you can even set up a camera and take a photo of your TV screen, as long as its a good quality, we'll be glad to add it to the DB.

For those of you who don't keep a constant eye on our DB's statistics, we now have over 70,000 games in our little database. I guess it ain't so little any more. Now, if you're like me, you probably want to know what the 70,000th game added to the DB was. Well, I can't tell you. Not because I don't want you to know, but because I wasn't paying close enough attention to the DB stats and let us go 150 games passed 70,000. I'll blame it on you guys though, you're the ones who added 150+ games in the last day, before the stats on the front page could update. So you all better know that I've got my eye on you and your sneaky submitting ways, we're only 78 hardware items away from 5,000 and I'm going to watch it like a hawk, so don't even try and sneak 79 passed me.
Anywho, congratulations to RFGeneration on having 70,000 games. And thank you to every one who has helped to add those 70,000 games.
We're also really close on a few other milestones, let's see how many we can reach by the end of the year!

You may have noticed that swell little section over on the right side of the front page, the one titled Site Statistics, well look at what it says for Total Scans. That's right, over 70,000! That's way more than nine thousand.
Of course, that wouldn't be possible without the thousands of members who have helped by submitting scans of their games. If you've added one of those scans, pat yourself on the back and then thank anyone else who has added a scan. And if you haven't added a scan yet, what are you waiting for? Its very easy to do and your name will be forever immortalized on that game's page here at RF Generation. Everyone who looks at that game page will be looking at your item. If you don't have a scanner, no problem, we also accept photos of items as long as they're high quality.

Those of you who are a little more observant, may have noticed that little box over there on the right side of the home page that keeps track of the database stats. See it over there? Pretty neat isn't it? Well, you might notice that the total number of scans is just over 50,000. That's right, in a little over 5 years, RFGeneration has accumulated FIFTY THOUSAND scans.
This is obviously a momentous occasion for THE Classic and Modern Video Game Database, but we couldn't have done it without the hundreds of dedicated members who put in hours of their own time to scan these games. I've done my share of scanning, and I know how much work it can be to scan several games at once, so to those of you who have done thousands of scans, my hat goes off to you.

The garages sales were plentiful this weekend, but weren't all that great. Again, the flea market was great as I've now bought nearly everything from my new favorite vendor. He's still got a few more things I want, so I should have a couple more 'Chronicles' this season.
Saturday Garage Sales
The Monster Rancher 4 and Finding Nemo were from one sale for $3 for both. Both in excellent shape (and CIB) for being kid games. Big Game Hunter (CIB) was $0.50 and THPS (CIB) was $0.25 from another sale. They also had an N64 with hookups, 2 controllers, and 2 Football games for $10/make offer. But I didn't bother with it, probably should have picked it up, but I just didn't want to be bothered with re-selling it.

Got this from a sale for $0.50. It was marked $1, but she just wanted to get rid of it. I probably could have gotten it for $0.25.

I didn't get this from a garage sale, but I did pick it up during my saling time, so I'll count it here. I actually got these from FreeCycle. She said they go from 2000 to 2004, but I haven't had time to check them over. There are 40 of them though.
A little rant here: why do people at local sales, tear off the address label. I was at your house, I know where you live, what info could I possibly get from the address labels that you need to tear them off and rip the cover in the process?

This was a strange sale. It appeared to be a guy selling off stuff people left in his storage building. My dad got another set of lawn darts for $1. I got the TRS-80 Color Computer 2 for $2. I almost didn't see it as I just assumed it was another typewriter, but something made me take another look under the translucent dust cover.

Sunday Flea Market
Bought these for $2 each. He had about 30 more and said I could take them all for $30, but I didn't need any of the others, plus they weren't in very good shape.

Traded Super Mario 64 (PC), Mario Kart 64 (PC), LOZ: Majora's Mask, SMB, SMB/DH and Super Mario World plus $5 for all them. The top two rows are CIB, the bottom two rows are missing the manual. All but one are in mint/excellent condition.
Oh yeah, this was in that lot too. Yeah, it's complete and mint. Anyone know what's it worth? I didn't realize what it was when I bought it, but once I got home I learned it's THE hardest to find SMS game.

All in all, a very good weekend. Although I have no idea what I'm going to do with all these SMS games. Plus the guy has a SMS that I'll probably trade for or buy next week since I haven't found one yet.
This garage sale season is definitely winding down. We only went to around 20 sales on Saturday, but luckily, I had an awesome day at the flea market, so it made up for it.

This was the from the very first sale. And it was a great sale, everything was priced cheaply plus it was all 50% off the marked price. The N64 was marked $5, PSOne car adaptor was marked $2, the Multi tap wasn't marked so that made it $0.50, and the N64 memory card was $0.50. I got it all for $3.

These were from a small neighborhod flea market. He wanted $3 each, but said I could have them all for $14, then said $12, so I gave him $10. All but Commandos 2 are CIB.

Sunday Flea Market
This table had a stack of 20-ish NES games for $1 each. I was absolutely sure I didn't own either of these so I didn't bother checking my list. Turns out I already had the Sesame Street game.

These were from the guy that I've been buying from a lot lately. I traded him several Nintendo games (Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, NBA Jam, LOZ:LttP, DKC, and DK 64) plus $20 for all the Sega games. I told the guy about the $1 NES games, and we made a deal of I would buy them for him (he couldn't leave his booth) in exchange for the CIB Dudes With Attitude.

A fairly disappointing weekend, it rained all day Saturday. And it didn't just rain a little bit, it poured for the good part of the day, I was completely soaked by the time I got home. I tried using an umbrella but it wasn't worth all the trouble of opening and closing it constantly, and the rain was at least warm, so I gave up on the umbrella.
Saturday Garage Sales
The PS2 games were marked $2 each, the PS1 game was $1. I really only wanted the MGS game, so I offered $10 for the whole box. My offer was taken.

This was from a huge moving sale, where nothing is priced, which I hate because you spend a lot of time gathering up stuff only to find they want a fortune for it. Which wasn't true this time. She wanted $2 for it all. But I was really only interested in the SMS controllers and power supply, so I offered $1 for it all. She accepted. The NES is dirty and looks like someone spilled some pop in it (I opened it before bringing it inside to check for cockroaches) I don't have high hopes for it working, especially since it had the wrong power supply with it, which leads me to believe they were using it for the NES.

I also got an old loudspeaker from one sale $0.50. It's not super loud, but I can plug my iPod into it and get a very respectable sound level out of it. It's great for outdoors or in the truck because I don't need a power source for it.
Sunday Flea Market
It hasn't rained yet today, but it has looked like it will all day and a lot of people were not at the flea market, including the guys I do trading with. This was the only thing I could find worth buying.
One thing I did see which gave me a good laugh was a guy selling dirty, loose NES controllers for $10 each. His N64 controllers were in the $30 range.

This weekend's treasure hunting got started a little early as I came across a huge yard sale between classes on Thursday. I stopped and found a game, and on the way home I stopped at a Game Stop and new used CD/DVD/game store and got a couple more

When I first saw this box of stuff, it was under a table so I picked up a controller and asked the woman at the sale how much it was, she said $1. I wasn't interested so I started putting it back, so then she said it was $1 for the whole box. I asked to throw in the Destruction Derby box and it was a deal. All the game cases are empty unfortunately. If anyone wants the papers from the cases for the PC games, you can have them for the cost of shipping.

This box of Atari stuff was marked $5, but there was nothing I really wanted, the M Network Tron joystick (anyone know anything about this?) looked interesting, but not $5 interesting, so I offered $2 for it all. My offer was reluctantly taken.

Sunday Sales
This sale started on Friday and I can't believe it lasted this long at only $20. I offered $15 for it, but they were solid on the price.

And the best damn deal of the day. Probably my best deal since the TG-16. This is from a guy that I've purchased a couple games off before so he gave me a "special deal", all his Sega CD games were $3 each. He's apparently a former collector so I guess he forgot what this one is worth. Plus he said he would be interested in doing trades, which will be great because the other guy I was trading with has disappeared. I almost didn't buy it because I know nothing of Sega CD games, but this title stuck in my head for some reason, so I took a chance on it.

Well, another week with a late blog post. Our county fair was this past week and I wasn't home from Friday until today, so this was the earliest I could get it written up. Unfortunately, because I was at the fair all weekend, I didn't get to go treasure hunting this weekend. My dad went without me, and he was instructed to call me if he found anything, but he supposedly didn't see anything.
However, I was able to stop at a sale between classes on Thursday. It was a massive "tent sale" but I didn't see much that I wanted. I got a pair of big old truck horns for $1 each, but neither ended up working. Luckily, before I left, the guy says that there is a Nintendo and an Xbox in a trailer outside the tent. So I walk over and find this stuff:

The SNES stuff was marked $25 for it all, the Xbox and hookups were $35 and the Xbox games were $1 each. All very acceptable prices, but I figured I could do better. I offered $50, which they accepted. However, since I wasn't planning on garage saling at that moment, I didn't have $50 on me, so I had them put it aside and told them I'd be back to pay. Which worked out pretty well because she didn't have the power cord, but by the time I came back with the cash, she had it.
So, now I finally have my own Xbox. All I need is a SMS and I'll be satisfied with the consoles I have for a long time now.
There was also three boxes with a boxed 4 switch VCS and a loose 6 switch, plus several boxed games and a couple dozen loose games (all commons, only a couple I don't have) and a few other old electronic stuff for $20. I thought about buying it, but it was just too dirty for me. I knew I would end throwing half of it away and the other half would need to be fumigated for cockroaches, so I left it.
This should be Treasure Hunt Chronicles #18, but I accidentally erased it, please forgive me. Although I guess it is 3 weeks old at this point, so why are you reading it anyway, go read the new one!
This weekend turned out to be a very big letdown in terms of the trophies I found. The weather was absolutely perfect, not too hot, not too cold, sunny but not overly sunny. I knew, however that it wouldn't be a spectacular weekend simply because I could only put in half a day of saling on Saturday as we had to go to my uncle's for a cookout at 11:00. Oh well, I may not have gotten a lot of games, but I got drunk on free beer and had a fun night.

Yep, that's all the gaming related swag from this weekend. The flea market had a ton of people, but none of them had anything good. Although I did see a loose Maxi 15, but it was $50, way too much for me.

The Def Leppard CD was $1, the blanks CDs were in a trash can at one sale, so I grabbed them. They are all like new.

On the way to the flea market, we stopped at a single garage sale, everything was drastically marked down, things that were marked $2 were now marked $0.25, and they said everything was half what it was marked. These are the sales I LOVE, people just want to get rid of their extra stuff. There wasn't much there I wanted, except a large box of men's clothes, 99% of them are my close enough to my size, so I paid the $0.50 they wanted for the box. Some of the stuff is like new and nothing is in bad shape. But, once I got home, I realized there was some other things in the box. Like a couple old credit card statements (with these people's credit card and social security numbers and other stuff. Luckily for them, I shredded the stuff and then burned it. Same as I would do if it were mine. There were also a couple "personal" photos of them 
And some of you more astute readers, will notice that I changed my format quite a bit. Marriot_Guy really helped me out with it and I think it looks great, but I'd like to get an opinion from my readers of how you guys like the new format, so feel free to comment on that since my finds were so pitiful.
Once again, another spectacular weekend of bargains. And what I like the best, is I actually got a lot of games instead of a lot of extra consoles like I've been getting lately. So, here are my treasures from this weekend.
Once again, there were a ton of sales on Saturday, more than we could ever possibly get to.
One of the first sales had a box of NES games marked $4 each, I flipped through them and there were a few I needed and most of the others were good titles as well. But I didn't want to spend $4 a game so I counted a total of 24 games. I thought about offering $20 for them all, but I knew she wouldn't take it, so I offered $40 for them all. She thought about it for a little bit and I was expecting here to reject my offer, but she eventually accepted.

We went by an unadvertised yard sale and it didn't look like they had much, but we stopped anyway. I see a box of toys and start casually looking through it, when I spot a N64 cartridge, so I dug deeper and found 2 more. I asked the price, she said $0.10 each. I gave her $0.25 for all three, not because I wanted to save $0.05, but because she didn't want to make change.

It was actually marked $0.10, but I gave her $0.25 and told her she could just keep the change. I'm not really into collecting for handhelds, but it's still sealed so it has to have some value in 10-20 years.
At one sale, I found this Dreamcast and stuff for $10.

She was asking $15, but once I got home, I realized the box was marked at $50. So I don't know if she said $50 and I heard $15 when I asked for the price or if it was just marked down a lot from the initial asking price. But, as I was paying for this stuff, I noticed a container on the floor with a Genesis game box sticking out. So I moved the stuff that piled on top of it and found a few more boxes. I opened a few and found games/manuals in them, so I asked a price. She said $5 for the box, which also contained a dozen+ VHS tapes. I paid the $5.

All CIB, I didn't even look at the VHS tapes when I was there so I was happily surprised when I saw the Doors video in there. The Browns tape is from when they first came back to Cleveland and is new, I'm giving it to my brother-in-law for Christmas or something. There was also a copy of Used Cars but it was MIA for the picture. The other tapes were mostly various sports bloopers videos, I tried selling them at the flea market today, but no one wanted to buy them, but I'll go back next week and try again.
At another sale, there were two across the street from one another, so I went to one while my dad went to the other. As I'm leaving mine to go to the other one, I see him smirking while walking down the driveway. As I get closer I realize he's holding two boxed NES games. I asked him if there was more and he said there was. Unfortunately, there were no more NES games, but I did grab these for $1 each.

The NES games he got were the box for for SMB2, a boxed Dr. Mario and a loose SMB. They're marked $1 on each of the boxes, so I'm thinking he paid $1 for both, but he won't tell me.

The Jeff Foxworthy book was $0.25, the Southpark CD was $1.
The flea market wasn't all that great. There were a few dark clouds out so I think a lot of vendors stayed away for fear of rain, but it never did rain.

It's complete, but the paper insert isn't in the greatest of shape. They had a few more boxed games, but no others CIB and a stack of loose discs, but I passed on the rest.
I also talked to a vendor who has been there with video games nearly all summer. I asked him if he was interested in buying my duplicates. He said he was interested, so I'm emailing him the list so he can decide.
On the way home from the market a small garage sale produced this:

I paid $20 for it. It's more than I would have liked, but I've wanted a Guitar Hero game for along time now. The game disc was in a paper sleeve and the strap is missing, unfortunately.
Saturday was an awesome day of sales, there was simply too many to get to them all so we had to hurry at each one to get to as many as we could. In total, we drove 50 miles of garage saling. But it was worth the $8 in gas for all the stuff we got. The very first house we stopped at had this stuff:

The Captain N and the Double Dragon next to it are still sealed. Everything was marked $1 each, I got my normal 6 for $5.
It was kind of funny getting that stuff, the guy had boxes of VHS tapes, PC games (mostly edutainment), and books. I just happened to see the Sonic R and then the Battletoads VHS so I dug a little deeper and kept pulling out the video game related VHS tapes. Oddly enough though, he didn't have any other video games.
There was a neighborhood sale in the same area but they had one a few weeks ago and it was expensive junk then so this week it was 1/2 off junk. We didn't even stop at the majority of them.
It was a while before I got anything else, but it was worth the wait. For $2:

There's actually 3 copies of Sewer Shark, I have no idea why though. The other game in the jewel case is Sherlock Holmes: consulting detective vol. II. The Genesis games are all CIB and I have no idea what that USB cord is for. I paid asking price on that one. The lady was nice and friendly so I didn't feel like ripping her off more than she already was.
We went to another sale that I knew we have been to before (had nothing the last time) but we were already there so I went up to it anyway and came back with these:

Next up was a huge neighborhood sale, two streets long and nearly every house was participating. Of course a lot of it was junk but I managed to find a couple treasures.

These were actually from two different houses. Both are factory sealed although the GBA game is missing some of it's shrink-wrap. I paid the asking price on Trouballs at $1, I offered $1 for the other, we settled on $1.50. Once I got home and peeled off the Trouballs price sticker there was a $0.75 sticker under the $1 sticker. Wish I had known that before, I would have peeled off the $1 sticker.

At one of the houses, as we walk up to the garage the woman asks "are you here for the garage sale" we tell her yes, expecting her to say it was closed. But she said that everything in a large pile was free and there was more at the curb. So I went and got the truck and we filled it up with boxes and bags of kids toys. Some of it will go to my niece but we'll probably sell the rest to a guy at the flea market for a few bucks. There was a couple things in there for me as well. The video game related stuff:

Most of the toys are circa 2002 but the Luigi on the cloud is from 1989.
Unfortunately, half way through this neighborhood sale, my mom called us. We had to take some stuff to a golf course for an outing we were having. So we stopped and left my dad's truck (which was pre-packed the night before) there and we continued our expedition.
On the way back to the sales, there was a small unadvertised yard sale but it didn't look like much so my dad wanted to just drive by, and I agreed until I saw a small black fabric case on the table and some cords hanging down. I know I've seen N64 system/game cases before and I just had a hunch that that was what this was. So I backed up to the sale and took a look. The cords turned out to be an old walkman and the case wasn't an N64 one. I was so disappointed that it didn't say N64 on it, I almost didn't see "Sega Game Gear" embroidered onto it. I asked the price, he said $10, that's what I paid.

IN noN video game related finds, I got some other goodies too.
For $1 I got this sweet trench coat:

Should be perfect if deer hunting season is as rainy as it was last season.
For $2.50 I got this sizeable box of miscellaneous wires:

She was asking $3, I offered $2, we settled on $2.50. I still have to go through it all. There's a lot of composite cables (some high end gold plated ones too), coax cables, and speaker wire.
CDs were from a couple different sales but were all $1 each.

And for $0.50 I got this antique coax switcher.

Will be perfect for my Genesis and 2600, no more unplugging and switching for me.
The flea market today wasn't spectacular but better than it has been in recent weeks. I'm seeing more and more vendors specializing in overpriced classic games though.
I did manage to get this off a woman for $4:

When I asked the price she whispered $4 and I thought she said $40 but when I asked her to repeat it, I heard her say $4, so I bought it for that. I was prepared to pay $5 for it though. The box is in excellent condition with just minor shelf wear and the pad itself is like new. Now I have to decide if I should keep this one or the one from my childhood which is not as nice condition. She also had what appeared to be a CIB Genesis 2 Core System, but it was $20 and boxed Genesis systems seem to be everywhere.
A few spots away was a guy with a bunch of random stuff but I spotted a PS1 with a couple games, he said $25 for it, I passed on it. But then I saw Caveman Games for the NES sticking out of a box, so I looked inside to see a pair of Genesis systems, a tangle of wires, and a few games. He said the whole box was $2, I didn't even bother looking to see what all the games were.

I guess this weekend was good enough to make up for the deplorable one last weekend. There wasn't anything one thing that was spectacular, but it was all priced very good and I managed to fill in a few holes in my collection so I guess it was a successful treasure hunt.
Well, this is my first blog post as a staff writer and I wish it could be more interesting than it is. However, this weekend was dismal for treasures, so I guess this post will be to show that even I have bad treasure hunting expeditions.
Well, without further ado, my treasure from this weekend's garage sales:

Yep, just two loose games, common ones too.
I paid $3 for both.
Non-gaming related finds weren't much better either:

The records were $0.25 each. The Bob Dylan CD was $1 and everything else was $1.
The sale that had the records also had a N64 with about 10 loose commons for $20 but I passed on it, if I had known this weekend would be so bad, I would have bought it.
What really bothers me is that I have no idea why the sales were so bad either. The weather was great, we shopped from 8:00-2:00, and put nearly 75 miles on the truck. There just wasn't anything good, there wasn't even much stuff at high prices. I fear the area is drying up.
The flea market today wasn't any better. I saw a couple Genesis systems with 1 game for $5 but I'm sick of seeing those things. I almost bought a sealed Mega Man 64 for $15 but decided against it. Another woman had a box of PS2 games (around 60) that she wanted $4-5 each for, I offered her $100 for the box full but she declined. One of the usual game vendors had a SMS with hookups and 2 loose games for $42, I really wanted it but that's just too much for me to spend on a system I know I can find for a few dollars eventually.
And to give a little more flesh to this post. I've decided I'm getting rid of all my duplicate games and systems in one fell swoop. I've got a potential buyer for it now for $1000 but if that doesn't work out I'm going to offer the deal to some of the flea market vendors. I think it's a really good deal considering it's over 300 games and 35 systems. But I just need to get rid of it and have more space.
Like last week, this weekend was another one for the record books. I didn't get a whole lot of games, but a lot of hardware instead. Including another system I never thought I'd actually find.
The day started off really, really bad. The first 5-10 houses were a walk up to the garage, see piles of baby/kid's clothes/toys and walk away. Neither my dad nor I found anything worth even looking at. Luckily, things got better for us both.
My first find of the day was a stack of PS2 games, there wasn't much I really wanted, but the prices were good, they were marked between $0.50-1.50, I didn't feel like adding it up and I don't think the woman selling them did either so I offered $10, there was about $14 worth as marked.
