I can only hope it has 4P-split screen. So far, I'm hearing that it will play 2P-Split screen + system link. Not much longer to wait though.

BRUTAL Sniper rifle! I think it shows it best early on in multiplayer video 2.

I know...too well.

Now, with Gears of War, taking out someone with the head shot not only kills them, it takes OFF their head!

I got a feeling I'm going to really like the Chainsaw Rifle for melee combat.

They didn't have it when I went at lunch today, dammit! They told me it will be here tomorrow for sure.

Got a 9.6 on www.gamespot.com.

We got probably 100 calls yesterday asking if Gears had come in yesterday.

Not to mention all the walkins :-/

If i wasn't in class i would be going into the store at 10 today when FedEx arrives so i could play a copy instore.

I really hope someone in my family is ultra nice and buys me a 360. Grin
Or makes 2 of my car payments Smiley

100 calls!  Shocked

I doubt that you'd be able to play a copy in-store, though. I can't imagine that the soccer moms with little johnny would be too pleased to see a game being played where you're blasting heads off and chainsawing your opponent. Probably not a 1st choice for a family game. Wink

I got my copy! Can't wait to get home and try it out!

@den, surprisingly, the multiplayer still looks pretty cool even though it's missing some things we're accustomed to (no 4PSS, no vehicles, no deathmatch); it's got 1 vs 1 SS on one TV, and 2 vs 2 on system link.

Mulitiplayer is team-based. But if you get hit, you're not out of it unless your opponent comes over and "finishes" you with a head stomp or execution-style shot to the head/chainsaw attack. This is because your teammate(s) can come over to revive you prior to your opponent getting there; then you're back in the game. Imo, this would add a layer of strategy. When we've played 2 vs 2 on Halo 2 in the past, the matches would be lopsided more often than not, but having something like this healing element in GoW to balance matchups out could work very well. We'll have to give it a try to see how it plays out.

Seems like it could get annoying laying about waiting for your team mates to revive you. Unless it's death matches? Is it respawn or matches?

From what I know, in one of the modes you can revive yourself by repeatedly pressing the A button. In a different mode, you have to get a teammate to assist. I think it's just death matches (not to be confused with "deathmatch"), and I don't know about respawning; so far I haven't heard anything about respawning. I'll check into it.

Has anyone else picked this one up?

After completing Act 1 last night, I'll say that if I didn't have to go to work today, I'd probably still be playing.  Campaign is very user-friendly and the flow of the game is excellent.

And...NO in-game loading screens. The only loading screens that come up are from the main menu and after you die.

I highly recommend picking one up.

...I would have to wait until next Friday, when it's released here. Sad
