I suppose I'm curious about the PS4 but I need to see some games in action (and less gushing about specs) before I get excited.

Yup.  I was kind of surprised at how little we actually know about the system compared to before the event.  Everything is still just speculation.

We knew there would be a new controller, Sony already said they wouldn't be sticking with the DS3, and we knew that the hardware would be more powerful.  Besides seeing a couple of tech demos running off of a PS4 developer kit (a PC with architecture similar to the final PS4) we really don't know anything of substance.  Or, at least, not enough substance to be able to make an informed purchasing decision.

For me,  the increase in power/visual capabilities isn't really that exciting.  Once you've gone through enough new console cycles, you kind of expect the new stuff to look a lot better than the old stuff, and it always does.  I almost feel like the never ending cycle to have the most gigaflops and RAM and HDMIs ends up making me want to play 80s/90s consoles.  I enjoy the simpler times of just sitting down to play a good game without having to deal with the myriad of crap that surrounds current gen.

You youngsters with your "Cup and ball is so radical!" When I was a kid, we just had cup, and we liked it!

If Stick were published by Capcom, there would be 4 more versions of it with improved stick smoothness and varying grain textures.

Do you still get joy out of playing with your stick?

Time to raise this thread from the dead.

Official FAQ is out: http://blog.us.playstatio...timate-faq-north-america/

So far, the most interesting thing I read is this part about getting the day one patch on disc:
Quote
What if I’m not able to or don’t want to connect my PS4 system online?
PS4 owners in North America can contact SCEA Consumer Services at (800) 345-7669 to request a Blu-ray activation disc that will be distributed via mail.

For future collectors, I expect this disc to be in short supply. I expect everyone here to get a copy.

A faster blu-ray drive and 8 gb of system memory still have me excited.  I can't wait to see what developers do with it.
