Leaderboard updated. Nice work everyone!

Just curious, but how is everyone enjoying the game?

Mike, I heard that you and Crabby played 1 & 2 last night. Did you guys finish both games?

I never gave Streets of Rage 1 the respect it deserved since I'm such a SoR2 snob.  But it's actually pretty good.   I still prefer SoR2, but I'll stick this guy in the rotation when I've got the itch for beat em ups

Yep! we sure did! Not without continuing unfortunately. I never did watch the video on strategy for beating the twins and final boss. Crabmaster and I, are stirring up a bit of shock and surprise, by expressing our enjoyment of SoR over the fan favoured SoR2. Might have to try and see if he will be willing to do another night next week giving 2 another shake and also doing 3. Which apparently, most fans of the series, regard as the worst of the three.

Mike and I finally had a chance to sit down and play some co-op Streets of Rage 1 and 2 a couple nights ago. Our first attempt wasn't great, but we made it to the two twins at the end of the game on our second playthrough. We played SoR2 immediately after and I think we both missed the first one. The second one looks and feels so much different it almost feels like its from a different series. Plus the special moves are so much more lame than the first one. And neither of us had any idea why were were transitioning from a pirate ship to an alien world to a wrestling ring. And a few of the enemies were super annoying in number 2. Definitely more of a fan of 1 although it was really fun to play with Max in two since his throws were pretty fantastic.

Setting the bar pretty high already.

Beat the game with Axel, no continued used.

High score: 694300

I just finished updating the current standings. I am going to better organize the leaderboard tomorrow from work, since my home computer has this aggrevating scrolling issue when I type in the submission text box. PLEASE look over your scores and make sure that they are accurate. If there is a mistake, send me a PM. Thanks. Hope everyone is having as much fun with this playtrough as I am. Smiley

You're crazy Crabs.  2 is the best game of the series.  The hit boxes are so bad in the first game and there were a bunch of times I got stuck in these weird glitchy hit loops.

Did SoR1 have special moves?

Stage 3 of SoR2 is an amusement park, that's why there are weird transitions from an arcade to a pirate ship to an alien fun house.  And the underground fight club in Stage 4?  Hey,  we're talking about a notorious crime syndicate here.  Of course they're gonna have a fight club in a well hidden place.   It makes more sense than a pro-wrestler randomly hanging out on a beach in SoR1.

Curious to play SoR2 as it's been a while. I really enjoyed SoR1 and I really don't understand the criticisms I've heard previously (not in this thread) about this game. SoR2 has a lot to live up to for me at this point.

I never had any hit box issues or glitches. What system did you play it on RetroRage? Just wondering if that might have been the reason.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried Streets of Rage Remake? http://soronline.net/sorr_info.htm

I just downloaded it and will try it later.

Shooting a bazooka that does massive damage and often clears the screen>wussy little punch that rarely kills one enemy and damages you for even using it

there's more moves than that.  Press forward forward attack and you'll do a special move that doesn't take any damage.  IMO the bazooka is too cheap

Crabby, why do you always call your save files or high scores RAD? I'm just curious.
