Are there any plans to implement the ability to add strategy guides and magazines to our collection? There's dozens of sites out there offering collection capabilities like IGN, GameSpot, 1UP, PlayStation.com, et cetera, but this is something that could really help set RF Generation apart.

I think it would be a great idea to have a second collection: A game collection, and a strategy guide/magazine collection. I would be willing to help contribute info on mags/strat guides as well.

It is in the pipeline of possible database expansions. Currently though we are working on the hardware database, which is something that we think will really set us apart. Once it becomes the hardware database has been up and running in its final form for a long time, we will consider adding database number three. I can tell you that Gaming Magazines / Strategy Guides are one of the two ideas for the next database, and the other would be arcades. Neither of these two options will be implemented in the year, but stay tuned, a year down the road you may see DB #3. You might even see it sooner depending on how well the roll out of the hardware system goes.

Bottom Line, new databases rely on the success of the hardware database, so when it is rolled out (within the month), make sure it is successful. We want to make sure we have the staff and dedication to make sure that we can feasibly maintain and foster two or three databases, and when we see that we can you will see DB #3.

Stay tuned in the next few weeks, you will be amazed so long as work doesn't pull me in really early. When the database switches to mySQL everybody will be able to submit not only images and new info but also new titles, variants, and regional variants. This will coincide with more a more user friendly submit script and the ability to see your submittal stats (as in number of major, minor, and rejected submittals). It truly should be an exciting time around here at RF Generation, so do stay tuned.

Hey, in the mean time there's still loads of games with info missing. It'll help pass the time. Smiley

That is a very good idea.  Let's make the hardware DB successful and go from there.

Yeah, as just another fellow board member, I'm going to agree with sticking with what we got right now.  It'd be nice if we could do mags, strat guides, and such but with the available resources at hand it looks like the site has enough to keep both the mods as well as any of the contributing members busy.

If you got the free time to think about new ways the site can crunch data, start scanning stuff and listin stuff.  That'll keep you busy for a good long time!
