I am a huge 80's nostalgia fan including cult classic movies of the 80's.  One film that sticks out in my mind is Legend by Ridley Scott from 1985.  The movie is about a boy name Jack and his triumph over darkness through the power of love which conquers all.

Could Legend actually be the Legend of Zelda Movie - The movie came out a year before the game but the game was also in development so one could of very well borrowed from the other.  SO here would be my rundown and tie-ins to the two.  Let me know your thoughts!

Jack goes to a "Cave" to retrieve his shield and his sword - as does Link

Una is a fairy that is at Jack's side along with his fellow forest people  - While link has his fairy later she also is there by his side eventually every step in LOZOOT.

Jack is a child of the forest as is Link both live as they will in the forest living off the land and cherishing the treasures that are in their path.

The Unicorns in my opinion from the movie represent the Tri-Force as the Lord of Darkness wants both to rule the world and keep it in darkness -- Gannon wants the same thing with the tri-force in essence to rule the land and all the dimensions it posses.

Princess Lily (while Zelda isn't overtaken by darkness) could very well be Zelda as they both are princesses that love a forest boy and both perceive the bad guy as a bad suitor of course.

In the end both save the world from darkness that is upon them fighting through traps, dungeons and many other obstacles just to save the Princess he Loves.

SO any thoughts?  Could Legend very well be the Legend of Zelda Movie?

Interesting theory. I've not seen the film, but now I feel obligated to check it out.

When you put it like that!

It sounds like they both are both based on rather generic storyboards....
