I love reading about laws that are on the books that make no sense at all.  Some are a result of times changing but the laws not being kept up to date.  Others are just the result of stupid law makers that don't know how to write clearly.  Here' s one that apparently makes having an open bag of potato chips in your car illegal.

what's wrong with that law? how many accidents have been caused by someone who's hands slipped off the steering while because they were trying to drive and eat a bag of greasy potato chips at the same time?

it's for our protection after all.

I use to go to a website that had tons of them.
Some town in California it is illegal to detonate a nuke within city limits.
Same as town in Mass.

Dunno about you, but I think detonating a nuke within the city limits is a good thing to make illegal.

Now in Lima, Ohio, it is illegal to sell maps that do not have Lima clearly marked.  This is a stupid law.

In Alberta (a Canadian province for you planet Earth impared people), when you've spent your time in jail you're entitled to a horse and gun from the Provincial government.

There are laws in place to negate that, but it still exists.

In the mid 80's, in Scotland, which has a slightly different legal system,, two rogues who had been arrested and put in gaol (yes, gaol - not jail!!!) awaiting trial, challenged the high sherrif to a duel with swords. It was down in black and white as a legal option, and no laws had been drawn up to negate it.

Both men were freed, without a conviction, and the law was repealed.

This is true, without a doubt, I remember my dad and I reading about it in a quality newspaper, altough my explanation of events may be slightly garbled, but it's basically true.

That is so cool. I wonder how those guys even knew about the law.

In Boston the mayor is suppose to go to every wedding and give the newly married coiuple a hog and/or 1 other barn animal. Needless to say this doesn't happen. But there are no laws that negate it either.

Wouldn't it just be easier to take a law off the books than negate it?
