4th solid night in a row for me. 4 more games beaten. Beat WWF Wrestlemania, WWF Wrestlemania Challenge, Burai Fighter and Hoops.

WWF Wrestlemania is really awful. I'm very thankful it was so short. Spent the first several attempts "wrestling" with the controls and weird hit boxes.

WWF Wrestlemania Challenge was quite a bit better in every way than just plain old Wrestlemania. Looked and Sounded Better. Twice as many fighters to choose from. You can actually pin a guy when you mean to. Throws were fun to do so I didn't just have to spam kicks. Decent fighter considering the system/era.

Burai Fighter is one of my favorite covers on an NES game. Very pretty box art/design. Game wasn't too bad either. Had a unique power up system and while auto scrolling levels it would change direction from time to time which made good use of your characters ability to shoot in any direction. There were even a couple top down stages that let you travel freely in any direction while you searched for an enemy base to destroy. Last level gave me some trouble, but the rest was actually fairly easy. I could see myself going back to this one from time to time.

Hoops was alright for what it is. After a bit of messing around with the different characters I found a team that could cheese the computer pretty well. I went with Legs and Zap. Legs is super fast and was able to steal the ball very easily and Zap barely ever missed a shot when made from inside the key. By selecting W-Out (who ever gets a basket gets first possession of the ball for the next round) I was able to score a lot of baskets consecutively. The coolest part of the game was the ending credits though. They had a silly 80s movie style ending caption for each of the players to show where they ended up in life after playing basketball on the streets. Pretty neat.

Working on Lethal Weapon.  It's fun, but the difficulty gets bonkers a few stages in.  Seems to suffer from Licensed Game-itis, where the beginning level is good, but the game falls off a cliff passed where the developer assumes the licensor stopped paying attention.

I beat that one last year and your absolutely right. The last couple stages were extremely challenging.

@bombatomba - Nice job again on Alpha Mission. I hope you enjoy Mighty Bomb Jack. It's one of my favorite early NES games.

Haha! Summer vacation time kicks in, and everyone stays inside to beat NES games (myself included)! I've been preoccupied with other video game related stuff, but I'm hoping to finish up LampshadeNightshade before the month ends.

Gargoyles Quest 2 done! It was tougher than I thought it would be, but it played well, glad I own the real cart too! Took 3 more down tonight with todays batch being: Thundercade, Cliffhanger and Jordan vs Bird. That puts me at 16 games in 5 days for my 100 games in 100 days challenge. Gotta try and keep my numbers up to make up for a camping trip I'm taking in July. Also I had a list of games that are on the shorter side, but you guys keep stealing them too!

Thundercade I thought would be the quickest game tonight, but it gave me a ton of trouble. There is a part leading into the last boss that is just savage with these missile turrets popping up out of the ground. Took a ton of attempts to figure out a way to limp through it. Then the final boss itself is actually pretty cool, but very very challenging. And if you die on it you get respawned back to the turret section. Had a couple runs that got me to the last boss and then like 10 in a row where I couldn't get past the second stage. It's a very slow feeling shmup. Not very much fun at all.

Cliffhanger was super duper short and really easy. All the badguys even the bosses are easy to get in stun locks and beat down as long as you get the first hit. Took a couple tries to get used to the weird run/jump mechanics and then it was a cake walk.

Jordan vs Bird was actually kind of interesting. Another Rare title.  The actual one on one game was very lame due to the perspective mostly. The Slam Dunk contest and 3 Point Contest were both pretty interesting though. And the music was spot on.

I finished Mighty Bomb Jack.  I originally played (and loved) this game at my Cool Aunt's house when it came out, but haven't played it since, though I have watched the marathon episode of GameCenter CX (which is how actually learned how to play the game).  I took the bad ending, mainly because this game is viciously hard:

While I was on the ball I decided to jump on M.U.S.C.L.E., as I have never played it and remember passing it up in the video store many times.  I have since found that the game loops at Round 4, but I made it to Round 8 before dying.  The game doesn't really harder as you progress, but certain characters coupled with the "ice" ring can be difficult:

I think I will tackle Battle Tank next.  This was a rental for me, and I remember it being challenging.  Also I loved the sequel.

IDragon Quest Builders 2 comes out in TWO WEEKS!  I have a four day weekend coming next week, and I plan on doubling down on the NES games.  Once I finish Battle Tank I might try and come up with a list of games to knock out.  I really have to get busy because once DQB2 comes out I don't know what will happen.

Making good progress on The Immortal, but hitting a bit of a wall on the Red Room of Worm Death (or whatever it's called). I keep hoping for that one good run...

@bombatomba- I'll have to try Mighty Bombjack sometime, but whenever I see it, my mind immediately goes to Tecmo Super Bowl and their crossover for the special halftime show.

@EZ Racer - That is so cool I had no idea that was a thing!

Battle Tank is in the bag.  This game is indeed very challenging, especially since you get one life and one continue, and each stage has randomized placement for the enemies, minefields and structures.  Still, it was fun for what it was, even if I completely forgot it because of Super Battletank.  Oh well:

I think I will jump on Arkista's Ring next please.

The Immortal is complete. I always wanted to give this a serious try ever since seeing it in the 1st Nintendo Power I got as a kid. It's an average game, with a lot of good ideas that sometimes fall flat on execution. Also A LOT of cheap deaths. I can't imagine playing this without a guide of some sort (yes, I used that old Nintendo Power that's over 25 years old).

It does hold some charm, though, and I can't think of any other games on the NES like this one. Worth my time but definitely not a game for everyone.

Not sure on my next claim.

Man bombatomba you are putting in serious work lately! No worries when you bounce to Play DQ Builders 2 for a while. I loved the first game too so I totally get it.

I was hoping to get two done today, but only finished Image Fight. Also spent a few hours on Lee Trevino's Fighting Golf, it's pretty tough though. Hoping to get that one done tomorrow if I'm I have a good run. Image Fight was a fairly generic shooter. 2 really annoying boss fights and a cool song during the final stage where the only real stand out moments for me. Burai Fighter was much more fun.

Arkista's Ring is done.  This game is...  far more fun that I thought it would be.  I think for some reason I avoided it due to getting it confused with Arcana (weird, I know).  If I hadn't read about this beforehand I would have pegged it for an mid-80's Famicom title judging by the gameplay and music, but nope.  American Sammy, NA only.  But the one thing I didn't know is that this game has 124 LEVELS, or more specifically, 31 levels that loop four times, which each playthrough getting progressively more difficult.  That's right, make sure to read Victory Conditions, y'all.  All in all, I had fun with this one, despite the difficulty at the end (I had to start over completely at the end stage because I didn't have enough musicbox things to put the ninjas to sleep):

Despite my best judgement, I would like to tackle Hydlide next.  This game was the focus of my nerd rage until I wrote it out on this website a number of years ago, but I need closure.  Time to put this one to rest.  I think.  Oh boy.
