A game like Ninja Gaiden. Help?

I remember playing a game either on SMS or Genesis which was almost identical to Ninja Gaiden, but was a two player game. The first player was a blue male ninja and the second player was a red female ninja. There were huge cyborg/robotic bosses reminiscent of Contra. Otherwise, it was exactly like Ninja Gaiden. Anyone have a clue what game I'm remembering?

P.S. It is not Shinobi or any member of the Shinobi family.

Thank you Arr. I would also like to point out once again that the gameplay is almost identical to Ninja Gaiden. Shinobi (although it involves ninjas) is not much like Ninja Gaiden at all.

Nope. Ninja Warriors is more like Final Fight. This game I'm talking about is soooo much like Ninja Gaiden that you would think it WAS Ninja Gaiden if you didn't know any better. I'm pretty sure you could even climb walls the same way.
