I have a tengen box (it came with my Tengen Gauntlet w/ manual that I bought from a flea market like 5 years ago)...but the box doesn't have a picture of the game or anything on it, it just advertises Tengen a lot. Is this the actual box the game came in? Is it just an inner box and I'm missing the outer box? Are all Tengen boxes like this? Thanks.

Ive seen a lot of those Tengen boxes that did not have a picture or game title on the front of the box. One example ive seen is on Rolling Thunder. Like this one of Tetris.

Yes that is exactly what I mean. Thank you.

So then this is just a generic Tengen box? Do they actually have a specific Tengen Gauntlet box? Or is this it?

Here is the unlicensed Tengen Gauntlet cart from our database:

Perhaps yours is a variation then?

That's just one variant of the Tengen dustsleeve.  It actually fits inside a normal Tengen box, and the styrofoam piece is inside that dustsleeve so it's easily mistaken as a real box.  The actual box of the Gauntlet game is the one listed in the database entry that Tan linked to.  Not all Tengen games came with such large "dustsleeves"...some also came in smaller ones that don't have the styrofoam piece on the inside.

Ah. So it is just a "dust-sleeve." That is a very large dust-sleeve. Thank you everyone.
