Welcome back, RFGeneration! Since the previous episode had such a favorable response, I've decided to try posting these videos weekly on Fridays pending any setbacks. For the 1st Season, this may be pushed up to twice a week since the episodes only contain Arino's challenges.

Last we left off Arino, he was taking on "Takeshi no Chousenjou", one of Japan's most infamous games on the Famicom. If you haven't had a chance to watch, the episode can be found on the previous blog entry:

http://www.rfgeneration.c...e-Center-CX-S1E1-1894.php

This time, we find Arino interviewing Tomomi Matsushita about the Neo Romance line of video games and taking on Angelique Trois, a dating sim game published by Koei. How will Arino respond to playing a dating sim game, and will he be able to pass the challenge?

Win Condition: Complete the game with a favorable ending.

Post any comments or feedback on the episode below for discussion.

I love how into this he gets! Grown man playing a romance/dating sim made for girls and he gets sucked into the story. Amazing. Further proof of why The Kacho is awesome.

This is one of my favorite episodes yet! So freakin funny. "If I play this will I understand a woman's heart?" Best ending ever (Arino not the game). Looking forward to next weeks.

This is hilarious.  I love how he spent 13 hours playing just to get turned down at the end!

Arino must have felt like a loser. 13 hours spent on a effeminate looking man and he gets shafted at the end. Love stinks for poor Arino.

that was a funny ending

I've been watching this show so much now that it's starting to have an effect on me.  I've managed to acquire an LCD monitor from work that has a nice variety of inputs (including an S video and composite video input), and once my online class is done (10/17, woohoo!), I plan on setting it up and getting in some serious pre-1994 gaming time.

@bombatomba:
That's what I'm hoping for. When we hit an episode with a compatible NTSC-version game, I'm planning on having a Let's Play session along with the episode to see how people compare their reactions to Arino's gameplay. Wink

Realized I didn't comment on this.

I find it interesting that the producers decided to throw a dating sim game at Arino to challenge. I didn't think that there would be much he could challenge there, but this particular game has an in-depth storyline and requires a lot of maneuvering to achieve your goals. I think I'd fall into the same boat that Arino did when playing it, which I would've never believed until watching this.

I too was surprised and entertained by how deeply he got into the game. It made his reaction to the ending that much more hilarious.

In fact, he got so into the game it started to make me wonder about his, er, preferences.

His "how rugged" comment referring to the first suitor at 3:23 was pretty funny.

I totally lost my shiznit, however, when the narrator announced, "While Arino enjoys romancing various men," while showing a still of him just chillin' with a sandwich in one hand, and daintily holding the controller with the other. I laughed at that scene so hard, the next door neighbors came 'round to ask me if I was okay.

(BTW I haven't been "okay" since I was born, but that's neither here nor there.)

It only got worse-- or better, depending on how you look at it-- when he found himself "entranced" starting at the 4:45 mark. He had the look of love in his eyes over a virtual dude like I've never seen a woman have over a real-life one. Then again, this could just be a case of cultural differences, who knows.

Oddly enough, I found Arino being rejected almost as saddening as it was hilarious. Don't be discouraged, sir-- I'm sure the man of your dreams is out there. You just gotta put in some more practice is all.

Lmao, the ending!

I loved how engrossed he was trying to get the date with the handsome man.
