We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you April 2018's edition of
RF Generation's Site News! In this issue, we also announce our May 2018 community playthrough title, congratulate a few members on their recent staff promotions, encourage YOU to join RF Generation's new army of Twitch streamers, inform you of a new database update, and of course, thank those members who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals last month. Thanks for keeping it on Channel 3!
REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line. Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAY 2018 COMMUNITY PLAYTHROUGH

For our May playthrough, and what will be our 50th Episode, we're heading back to one of our favorite RPG consoles and taking on one of Shawn's favorite games of all time.
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure was originally developed for the PS1 and was later ported to the Nintendo DS. The game is a super sweet and cute, tactical RPG containing fully voiced musical numbers! Offensive tactics which can be exploited in the game include elemental spells with many enemies weak to their opposite status (i.e. fire weak to water, etc.), and the ability to have monsters occasionally join your party in battle after they are defeated.
The story of
Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure centers around Cornet, a girl who can talk to puppets and has a magical horn that can grant wishes. She is assisted by Kururu, a magical puppet with the soul of a human. Their quest is to save Cornet's love (Prince Ferdinand) who has accidentally been turned to stone by the witch Marjoly.
If attacking your foes with gigantic slices of cake and collecting puppet allies sounds like a good time to you, join us by signing up
HERE!
We hope that you are as excited about this pick as we are, so be sure to grab yourself a copy today! Also, please join in to discuss the game by signing up on our
Rhapsody discussion thread.
Also,
REMEMBER that if you're planning to record a roast for the Playcast's 50th episode, you'll need to start prepping. Submissions will be due by the end of May so that we can work them into the episode. If you're interesting in submitting some audio, please contact singlebanana via PM. Thank you.

NEW STAFF PROMOTIONS

The Directors at RF Generation would like to take a moment to recognize two site members who have been promoted to our database staff. Members
toze3 and
Raidou have recently both been promoted to Database Reviewers. We appreciate their dedication and willingness to help us review the hundreds (sometimes thousands) of submissions we receive each month. We believe that their experience with international games will be a true asset to the site and are happy to have them on board. Congrats guys!

CALLING ALL PRESENT & FUTURE STREAMERS!

RFGeneration is going Turbo! Twitch Turbo, that is. The official RFGeneration Twitch Channel is looking for RFGen members to fill its channel with good wholesome gaming. Whether you are an established streamer who knows how to use OBS, Voice Meeter, and all the different features offered by Stream Labs, or a gamer who has never streamed before but has always been a little “Stream Curious,” we would love to give you the chance to add some content to our Twitch channel and be able to interact with community members Live during your streams.
If you plan on streaming PC games, all you will need is a PC, a webcam (so we can see your pretty face), a headset/microphone, and a high speed internet connection. If you plan to stream console games, you will also need some kind of video capture device, preferably one designed for game capture like the Elgato HD60. With either setup, since you will be a streamer, you will also need a flat brimmed baseball hat.....
Please contact wildbil52 or NeoMagicWarrior via PM if you are interested and a member of our Twitch Team will get in touch with you regarding the next steps. Again, don’t worry if you are not sure how to get started, we can help you get set up and going!

UPDATE TO DATABASE GENRES

Fleabitten, a member of our database team, is transitioning some Action/Adventure genre games to more specific genres. When submitting a game to our database, you will now have access to these new genre categories, such as "Platformer" and "Classic Shooter" (or as many of us call them, shmups). We hope that this system will help you better organize your collections and also let you know what type of game a particular title is if you're on the go. Nice work database team!
