We interrupt your regularly scheduled program to bring you March 2018's edition of RF Generation's Site News!  This is an important issue so you will want to be sure to read through it. Our biggest piece of news is that our site is under new leadership.  Find out who is taking the reins at RF Generation and what new things they have in store for the site. In the month of February, we successfully reached our fund drive goal with a total of $1880.00 in donations! Now it's time to reveal the prize lot winners, so be sure to check out the video below. In this issue, we also announce our April 2018 community playthrough title, and of course, thank those members who sent in submissions to our site and registered approvals during the month of February. Thanks for keeping it on Channel 3!

REMEMBER: If you have any news about upcoming events or topics that you think the site needs to hear about, please PM singlebanana and put "RFG Site News" in the subject line.  Who knows, maybe your news will make our front page!

NEW SITE LEADERSHIP

Before we discuss new site leadership, I want to begin by first expressing our sincere appreciation to Ray (Shadow Kisuragi) for his directorship over the past few years.  Ray took the reins from NES_Rules several years back and has kept the site growing and active. He has been a great asset in not only fielding questions for the database staff, but has also been instrumental in fixing a lot of the technical issues that always seem to arise with any website.  As you can probably gather from the tone of this message, Ray is stepping down from his directorship. However, I’m happy to report that he will still be around and hopefully involved in the site, just not on the day-to-day basis that we have become so accustomed to. So thank you Ray for your service, and all the best to you; you have been a good friend and we hope to see you around often!

With Ray stepping down, we were obviously looking for new leadership for the site.  In the past, site directorship has primarily been the responsibility of an individual; however, juggling the various areas of the site and having an accurate handle on what the needs are for each area has proven to be a daunting task.  As a result, we have decided that it might be more efficient for three members to share these duties and oversee what we believe are the three basic branches of our site: content (front page & site outreach), technical (site maintenance, site updates, & apps), and database (DB content, maintenance, submissions & approvals).  Of course, there is some overlap in each of these areas, and our new directors will work in conjunction with each other to address all site and staff needs. So, without further ado, our new leadership is as follows: Content Director (singlebanana), Technical Director (bickman2k), and Database Director (Duke.Togo).

COMMUNICATION AND STAFF PAGE UPDATES

After a few evenings of discussion over Skype and lots of instant messaging, the three of us have determined that the area we would most like to focus on is communication. We are implementing some changes to the staff page and other areas of the site so that site members, and anyone needing to reach us from outside of the site, will now know who to specifically address with their questions and concerns.  While we can’t always promise an immediate answer, we CAN promise a timely response to your concerns and a reasonable follow-up.  As a result, the staff page will be undergoing some physical changes to simplify it and inform everyone as to how they can get in contact with the appropriate director.

RF GENERATION APP FOR iOS

Yes, we've heard your pleas on the site and on social media for an RF Generation iOS app and we are now ready to take on this project.  We've had great success with our Android app and have already put together some numbers to determine what development and hosting of this software will cost us.  We are currently getting estimates from app developers, so if you or someone you know is interested in taking on this project, send a PM to singlebanana ASAP.  This is a project that has been on the back burner for years, but one we feel is necessary to the success of the site.

RF GENERATION ON TWITCH

That's right, RF Generation now has a Twitch channel! We are currently in the infant stage of developing this channel and figuring out how we can make it work best for the site and our members.  A big thanks to wildbil52 and NeoMagicWarrior for their efforts in helping getting us up and running. They will be working with our directors to create the rules and guidelines for this account and possibly drafting a schedule depending on interest.  Again, don't expect a lot at this time in terms of content, but this is a site feature that we have considered for some time and are on the process of getting it off the ground.

DATABASE AND SUBMISSIONS UPDATES

The Sinclair QL has been added to the database! Our database continues to grow every day. Have some software for this computer? We're ready for your submissions!

A note on submitting releases from small publishers like Limited Run Games and Eastasiasoft (Play-Asia releases): Be sure to select the correct region on submission. From now on, Limited Run Games submissions will need to be submitted as North American releases, and Eastasiasoft as Asia. If you feel a release warrants special exception, please contact database staff with your rationale. Submissions with the incorrect region may be rejected.

IN CONCLUSION

In conclusion, Chris, Adam, and I are looking forward to working with all of you to make the site more efficient and make sure that RF Generation stands the test of time. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for allowing us to take RF Generation in a positive direction in the near future.  If you have any questions or concerns, please any of our new directors a PM.

DONATION DRIVE PRIZE DRAWING

For every $10 that our members and friends of the site contributed during our site's February donation drive, that donor received a ticket for our prize raffle. Some of our staff members donated some great prizes, which can be viewed HERE. All donors were given the appropriate amount of tickets and these tickets were thrown into a bowl and drawn at random.  Please remember that the first name drawn will receive his/her choice of a prize lot, the second name drawn will receive the second pick of the remaining lots, and so on. No member can win more than one prize lot, so any name drawn twice will be voided and another name drawn.

So, without further adieu, let's get on with this year's drawing!

A huge thanks to all of this year's donors and congratulations to the winners!  I will be contacting you shortly to claim your prize lot.

APRIL 2018 COMMUNITY PLAYTHROUGH

With playthrough co-host, Shawn's New Year's resolution to spend no income on games and purchase new ones by whittling down his current collection, the guys have decided to play a pricier title before Shawn says, "Bon voyage!"  This April, join the Playcast crew as they return to the N64 with Conker's Bad Fur Day.

This title, developed by Rare, follows the trials of Conker the red squirrel as he attempts to return home to his girlfriend Berri. Unlike other Rare platformers of this generation (namely Banjo-Kazooie & Donkey Kong 64), Conker's Bad Fur Day isn't family-oriented, but was designed for mature audiences and features graphic violence, alcohol and tobacco use, profanity, vulgar humor, and pop culture references. The gameplay includes challenges such as boss battles, puzzle solving, fetch quests, and racing opponents, among others. The purpose of these quests is to earn cash rewards, which allow access to other areas in the game's overworld.

While Conker's is a pricier title for the N64, participants can also join along by grabbing a more affordable copy of the Rare Replay compilation for the Xbox One.

We hope that you are as excited about this pick as we are, so be sure to grab yourself a copy today! Also, please join in to discuss the game by signing up on our Conker's Bad Fur Day discussion thread located HERE.
