The 2013 Donation Drive has now concluded. Our goal was to raise $1000 in just over a month's time. But were we successful? Well, yes, but not quite technically. In the time frame of the donation drive, we received $995.78. But, we also received an additional $40.75 from the auction of the guest interview spot on the Collectorcast. And another $6.00 from some Atari games I donated to the cause. And then we received an additional $60 donation just after the deadline. So we did receive enough to keep the site alive for another year! But since we didn't reach the goal within in the time frame of the donation drive, there won't be an all-expense paid trip to Hawaii for the donors like I was planning. Oh well, guess there's always next year.

Seriously though, I'd like to thank everyone who helped us out this year, it really is greatly appreciated. Just like we rely on members for our DB information, we also rely on our member donations to pay for our server. We really mean it when we say we wouldn't be here without our devoted members.

So thanks to all these people who donated this year:
  • Sack
  • Engel 762
  • OatBob
  • Bildtstar
  • Razor Knuckles
  • nupoile
  • Techie413
  • slackur
  • moonraker_fats
  • bum-man
  • CoinCollector
  • singlebanana
  • Wempster
  • RetroRage
  • Sauza12
  • ryanflucas
  • ericeskapade
  • Johnny Nintendo
  • fatken53
  • monkees19
  • Barracuda
  • DaveMMR
  • Silver80
  • pwpcody
You 24 may now proudly tell everyone that you helped support THE Classic and Modern Video Game Databases financially.

And of course, there are the matter of some prizes to be handed out. First off, if you've been listening to the Collectorcast, you've been hearing all about the donors as they donated, and there's still plenty more to come in the next episode.
If you've been keeping up on the Podcast section on the forum, you've probably already heard that nupoile won the auction to be on a future episode, so we've all got that conversation to look forward to.
And the biggest donor we had this year was Sack who donated an astounding $200! This awesome donation entitles him to have his choice of any two items from the RFGeneration Store.

Again, thanks to all who donated this year, and in past years. If you wanted to donate but didn't have the extra funds to do so, don't worry, you can donate at any time. Just click  on the little "Donate" toward the top of the forum page. Or you can shop at our store, each sale price includes a percentage that goes back to us.

Well crap, I was wondering how much I was behind the leader Tongue

Who is this mysterious "Sack"?

@Crabmaster2000: He's been here for the last 2.5 years, but doesn't post on the forum. He's also the owner of Gamers Anonymous, a game store and review site. http://www.rfgeneration.com/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=3349

@engel762: At least you were top donor for quite a while.

@NES_Rules: I tried! Maybe in the next round...

good job to all the donors! looks like a very successful campaign. i'll be adding my bit in a couple days, better late than never.

Indeed! Sorry, I haven't had a chance to use the forum much.  I own two retro game stores here in Abq, NM, and do my best to keep up with things. Sadly, I don't have time to do that often.

One of my employees was actually one who turned me on to this site, and he let me know about the donation.  Since what you do coincides quite well with us, of course, I figured it only fitting to throw a bit back as I was able.  Anything to help out fellow collectors, and maybe one of these days I'll get a chance to update my collection with some of the stuff I've acquired in the past few years.

Just doing my part to help you guys out. Smiley

@Sack: Very cool to hear from you Sack!!! Thanks so much for your generosity! Hope to see more from you on the site.

Great job everyone, and glad to hear from the mysterious Sack! If for some reason I ever happen to be in Albuquerque I'll be sure to stop in!

@Sack: That's awesome!  Glad to know that there are people like you out there, who may not use our forums much, but are still using the site and are willing to give back.  Any links to your stores?  There are several items that I'd be interesting in purchasing if you have them and why not help out someone who has done a great service in helping this site. I was in Abq, NM several years ago, what a fun and beautiful town.  Still a little pale from taking that Tram to the top of the mountain. Smiley

You know, you can check out www.garetro.com to go to the site, but we don't currently have an online database to either of the retail locations. I'm certainly looking into it, HOWEVER, you're more than free to email me a list of requests (this goes for ANYONE) and I'll do my best to track anything down and throw you some price quotes.  Just provide me with a list and a zip code and I'll see what I can do. Smiley

Abq is a great little spot, and I'd love if anyone ever decided to swing by, should they ever be around!  I am glad to be able to help out, because I know how important collecting is to people (myself included, so I don't price gouge at the store), and I'd actually love to get a few solid links to pics of the store's interior.

Thanks for having such a great site, and it's awesome to have a solid community built around and so dedicated to such a great hobby.  I'll talk to you folks soon!

Send any emails to Sack@garetro.com!

@Sack: Curse you!  Curse you for out donating me! err...  But seriously, awesome that someone stepped up and made an awesome donation to help bump the pot closer to the goal!  If I ever happen to be near New Mexico I might have to make a detour into to Gamers Anonymous Cheesy

lol I love how Zag's name isn't on the list of donors.

Good eye - you're right.

@RetroRage: That's because he (and a few other people) had donated before the official start of the Donation Drive, so I didn't include them in participating in the Drive, they're just regular donors. And they are all listed here: http://www.rfgeneration.com/PHP/about.php?action=donors

Also, I should mention that if anyone donated $30+ and did not receive the link to the special Collectorcast episode, shoot me a PM, I tried my best to get everyone, but I'm sure one or two may have slipped through.

Anyone going to out donate Sack for the NFS employee promo?
