You can see the artist's name on the left side of that Haunted House artwork. With a high res scan yo may be able to make it out.

@Eric - Yup. A lot of my love for PS is nostalgic, but I know it's a very good game. When I played this game in 1988, I felt like I was playing a game from the future. If Phantasy Star came out in 1992 for the Genesis or SNES, it would still be considered good.

@Banana - I think a lot of the appeal to the artwork is that there is so much going on in each picture. Looking at Missile Command, I never even noticed the city and farms in the bottom right-hand corner. I assumed the farm was more of the control panel and the city was more buttons. It's a smooth transition since the colors are similar. Very creative.

What game is that last pic? I thought it was Haunted House at first.

It is Haunted House, or at least a variation of the artwork for it. This artwork was not what was on the box and label, but something very similar was. I think that might have been the original concept sketch for the art, but I am unsure. See this link: http://www.theverge.com/2...-into-virtual-wonderlands

The JAP version has more of an arcade feel to it.
