The Clash. Followed closely by the Ramones, then Minor Threat and finally the Dead Kennedys.

Not really into Punk music but I guess Weezer or Green Day counts. I like their stuff from the '90's the most.

if you wanted to actually label a best i thing the only obvious choice is the clash. real pioneers, as far as overall sound and writing goes. London Calling is just a masterpiece. I can't really say i find to many other punk albums to be masterpieces.

I have no idea why anybody ever liked The Sex Pistols, they're just a bunch of daft idiots.

Bad Brains.  No hesitation.  The Ramones certainly are one of the greatest punk bands, if not one of the greatest bands in history, and who can argue with the contributions the Dead Kenneys made to the genre?  I never understood the appeal of the Sex Pistols, but whatever.  The Bad Brains were something special.  Any band that can make a bunch of pent up, straight-edge, middle-class, whitebread mo-fo's mosh to both punk and reggae in the same set deserves the label of the best.

At least no one mentioned Bad Religion.  Even thinking about Mr. Brett makes me want to stomp on that guys nuts.
