October has come and gone, but Halloween continues to haunt my mind.

I've previously mentioned I've spent a good portion of the past month reading up on the history of Sega, as well as putting my body to the test by running in two marathons.  Yet, I've remained silent on my acquisitions for October, with the final one being held up in the postal system, thanks to a certain cyclonic storm system.

After three months, it should be no surprise by now that I collect Dreamcast stuff, so here's the photo roll:

Imports

Guides.  Notice Gamers' Republic #35.  I only need two more issues.

...and more guides, yawn.

Here's something different, I found 3 DCs on ebay for $30.  No cables, but still a good deal.

Something's been bugging me.  I sorta like the other Sega systems, but I rarely see stuff for them at game shops.  I hadn't seen a Sega Saturn or NEC turbographx until I visited a specialty shop around 2006.  I rarely see Sega CD and Saturn games, and when I do they are (phohibitively) expensive.  Anyways, I've taken moderate interest in one of the few black sheep of collecting recently, the Sega 32X.  With a library of only 36 titles, it's a short list to complete.  Everyone's only THREE DOZEN titles away from completion Wink.  I'm having a difficult time ironing out a number of missing manuals.

Anyways, I'm too lazy for this last picture, but I picked up Knuckles Chaotix and Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000 complete, and a manual to piece together Tempo also as complete.  If you really want pictures, you should check out noiseredux's blog for this month.  He hauled in some spendy hardware and rare titles at no cost, trades only!

Thanks for the mention, but that's noiseredux's blog, not mine. Tongue

oops

Boy, it's just a back-and-forth between you and Da Noize with the Dreamcast hauls, isn't it?

Well, at least it's a friendly competition, near as I can tell.

BTW how many Dreamcast consoles do you have in your possession, anyway? You tryin' to corner the market, or what? Wink

8 US, 1 JP, and 2 Treamcasts.  Believe it or not, I actually use about half of these.  My HD TV has a US and JP unit, my other TV has one hooked up.  I also have another tucked in a corner hooked up to a VGA monitor, and finally, one is packed into a bag for convenient travel.

How many more of the JP exclusives do you have left? I notice most of those were related to the exclusive Dream Passport system in Japan.

Dream Passport is just the browser.  There are 3 main ones, with one revision.  There are a couple bundles I know of... the ISAO one pictured, and an "Urban" bundle with a keyboard that targets homemaking moms who don't seem to want to use PCs for the internet.  The rest are bundled with those extremely rare (and spendy $500+) consoles.  R7 and Hello Kitty have them, just to name a couple.

Otherwise, the JP library is 500-600 titles while the US was under 300.  There are bound to be more exclusives.  I just grab what I can find cheap at this point.  Everything is online, and even then then the finds are slim, so I'm trying to sit patiently and wait.  Its the only way I can think of to avoid overspending.  The lack of sales history on these obscure titles makes it difficult to pin a price on stuff.

Psst.  What I didn't list were two games I repurchased just for the obi.

I guess I didn't answer the question.  I think I'm about 1/3rd done on the Japanese DC collection.  I might be able to pick it up as I round up the last few guides on my lists.

of course our competition is friendly!! Cheesy

You got some good finds this month Bob... some nice import additions and that boxed fishing controller. But what really stood out be me was the fighting guides. Those things go for $$$ on eBay which is a total pain for paper. :\
