Completed two games over the weekend - The Hunt for Red October and James Bond Jr.

Red October was kinda fun but very hard. You only get one life - no continues either.  You do have a decent amount of health but you don't heal at the start of a new level either so you have to rely on dodging and pickups.  You also have to manage your ammo and its possible to fail certain levels if you run out (luckily this doesn't kick you back to the start of the game, just replaying the mission).  This one took quite a few tries and have been playing it on and off for probably a month before finally finishing it.

James Bond Jr. on the other hand was frustrating but ultimately pretty easy - only taking about an hour or so.  The frustration comes from terrible controls and levels that are way too long, especially for the shoot-em-up levels.  The shoot-em-up levels do have a ton of check points (sometimes even putting you ahead of where you died) but its one hit deaths with questionable collision detection.  The platforming sections were a bit more forgiving but honestly not that fun.  There also wasn't much ending - just one line, a still image then back to the title screen.

Overall I'd probably pass on both of these unless you're a fan of the genres or the license.

Beat The Adventures of Dr. Franken. Not a great platformer. Reminds me of the Dragon's Lair game I played, where the sprites initially look impressive because of their size, but then because of their size, you hardly have time to react before enemies hit you. For some reason, your main attacks use two buttons, one to attack toward the right side of the screen, the other for the opposite side. If you aren't paying attention, you may press the button for the wrong direction and take a hit that you probably shouldn't. There's no reason for it, either, since you really don't have occasions where enemies are attacking from both sides.
