Okay, I'll admit I have a heavily modded XBox.  Actually, even if I didn't, I wouldn't pay to use XBox Live.  I have a problem with money of mine going to M$ - which is why I bought a used XBox and 3rd party controllers.

Anyway, XLink Kai is a free alternative to XBox Live that I occasionaly play.  Trouble is, I don't know anyone else who uses it (though there seems to be around 1,000 players on the network at any given time).  Anyone out there who does use it, or is willing to give it a go?  Basically, you can play any game that supports System Link over the XLink Kai network.  Here's the page:

My tag is Odonadon.  Let me know if you're interested in having a game of, well, anything.

Is it the same type deal as XB connect it is called? All lag for anyone not hosting the game? If so 50 bucks a year is not a lot of money.

Plus I don't get the hate for Microsoft,  EA, Sony or any other company that has made it big.

I might not like Sony but it is not because the PSX and the PS2 are tops in the field.

Actually, I've seen comparisons that show XLink KAI has less lag than Live.  And yeah, same deal as XB Connect, but KAI seems to have more subscribers.

The hate for M$ comes from years working in the IT industry with Microshit products.  EA, Sony, IBM, CGI (Canadian company), Toyota, etc. = all good.  Especially EA - I have a lot of respect for them.  But M$ is garbage.  Garbage product, all hype and marketting.  There is such a thing as becomming too big, and becomming sloppy/lazy/whatever.  Just because you're a huge company, doesn't mean you can't produce a good product for a good price, I'm sorry.

Gotta say I like the XBox (not really a M$ product, but marketted and distributed by them) tho.

I'm thinking of signing up with Live just to play Burnout 3.  All my other games are loaded on the Hard Drive which I obviously can't play on Live.  I just bought Burnout 3 (yes, I know a portion of that sale makes it's way to Microsoft in the end, but I bought it off eBay!)

You'e not the only one not liking MS, I'm switched two and a half year ago over to Apple.  But I also don't like Sony. My reason is the quality of the consoles I bouht from them. I already used on my second X-Box and even third PS2 as the first broke down, this while my Saturn and Dreamcast still play perfectly (and I played much more with these consoles.
