Seems the Revolution will launch worldwide on the same day sometime between April and December 2006. Not huge news, but the simultaneous launch will be nice.
Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, recently revealed that the company is aiming to release the Revolution everywhere worldwide on the same day - sometime after March of 2006. In Nikkei Business' interview, Iwata was quoted as saying: "I can only say that it's coming out during 2006, but it will be after the current fiscal year. We hope to make it a simultaneous worldwide release as much as it's possible." Because the fiscal year ends on March 31, 2006, it doesn't really narrow down the release date much, with anything between April 1, 2006 and December 31, 2006 being a realistic release date.
Iwata reportedly said that Nintendo's former president, Hiroshi Yamauchi, was not involved in the creation of the Revolution's controller in any way, shape or form. Iwata has also voiced his hopes for the Revolution's sales, saying that "[the Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn't sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube;" considering that the GameCube has shipped 18.76 million units as of June of this year, the Revolution has some legacy to uphold.
