In the early 1990's, the video game industry was in a frenzy over the newest and undeniably best puzzle game ever made: Tetris.  The Russian-made game stormed the world for years.  Knock-offs were made for years to come, scandal popped up when Tengen and Nintendo clashed over copyright law, and the games industry was never the same.

Then, in 1993, Nintendo released the sequel to Tetris, creatively titled Tetris 2.  It was released on the NES, SNES, and GameBoy systems.  The game received praise for its innovation and solid gameplay, but was it as good as the original?  Does it stand up today against other games in the series, like Tetrisphere for Nintendo 64?  Will any puzzle game ever really top the original and ultimate Tetris?

I never even knew there was a Tetris 2. One has consumed many hours of my life though. For a long time that was the only game I had for my B&W screen Mac
SE-30 I almost beat the last stage once.

I think I've only played Tetris 2 once (on NES), and it was too long ago to remember very well.  On the other hand, I spent a lot of time playing Tetris on Gameboy as a kid when my mom wasn't playing it.  She was (and still is) really good at that game, but that's the only game she's good at.  (She can't even play Tetris in color.  It throws her off.)  Hooray for games that appeal to all age groups!

I'm not a huge fan of the NES version of this game.

It was alright but i much prefered the Tetris 2 on SNES.

I've also hardly played this game for NES...I'll give it a try again soon and see how it plays.  On an interesting note, I believe this game was released as Tetris Flash on the Famicom, which I think is a much catchier title.  It probably would've sold more and maybe been more popular if it were released under the same title in the US Wink

There was a reason alot of you havent played this or even heard about it before because it was total crap compared to Tetris the one and only.  I'm suprised this was featured but then again I'm also suprised when people say lumines and meteos are better than tetris when there totaly not and no I dont think any game will top they original.
