Indeed.... Go Contra

I wonder if it will be an exact remake of the NES version or what?

I'm sure it'll be a remake, but why would they remake the subpar NES version when they could remake the arcade version?

I'm sure I'll buy Contra, but I'm not excited about it.  I'm excited about Street Fighter and Cyberball!   :gay:

I own the Contra arcade and the NES version. Not really a huge difference if you ask me.

And Cyberball rocks! Will you be able to play against other people? If so, I may have to buy it and start handing out ass whoopings! |D

I'm sure Cyberball won't be as good as it was in the Arcade.

Although I haven't played the Lynx version (I own it, how odd) I think you can play 16 players on it.

i bet once the new golden axe comes out they'll release the arcade one on xbl, it'll be interesting to see the prices reflected between the genesis version on the Wii and the arcade on xbl

I think they will be different though... won't they?
Since Nintendo only has the rights to the Genny version where as MS is probably getting rights to the Arcade version?

It will.  Peter Moore specifically said it would at the press conference.  It also looks like it's ported from the arcade and not from the NES.

And games like Time Pilot looked like they were graphically superior to the arcade originals.

The full list of games they anounced were:

Time Pilot
Frogger
Rootbeer Tapper
Rally X
Dig-Dug
Galaga
Ms. Pac-Man
Pac-Man
Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting
Contra
Super Contra
Track & Field
Scramble
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Sonic the Hedgehog
Defender
Paperboy

And the most exciting:

Lumines Live!

Each game will have a full list of achievements, leaderboards, and co-op / competitive play where appropriate.  Pretty cool stuff!!

Speaking of which, it may be time to add an XBox Live section to the collection database.

blissfulnoise, I suggested an Xbox Live Arcade database addition months ago and the idea was scrapped. The reasons were pretty much cause it's downloadable content and not something you can buy on a disk. The general idea was that if we add Live downloadable content then we'd have to add every single downloadable game for every platform in existance.

We'll be buying every game on that list. Currently own all the arcade games cept Hardwood Hearts.
